Welcome to the forum :wavey:

Step 1:

Please download Process Explorer by Sysinternals from:

Process Explorer

Download Killbox from here:

Killbox.zip © Option^Explicit

Unzip it, but don't run it yet.

Step 2:

Copy/paste the text in the Quote box below into Notepad, and save, where you can find it, as "killme.txt"

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\bthCIC.dll

Step 3:

Print out the following instructions as you will not have Internet Access for the rest of this fix.

Reboot in "safe" mode.

The rest of this fix must be done in safe mode.

Unzip Process Explorer and double click on procexp.exe

In the top section of the Process Exlporer screen double-click on winlogon.exe to bring up the winlogon.exe properties screen. Click on the Threads tab at the top.

Once you see this screen click on each instance of:

bthCIC.dll

once and then click the kill button.

After you have killed all of:

bthCIC.dll

under winlogon click OK.

BE SURE TO KILL ONLY THIS FILE!!!

Next double-click on explorer.exe, select the Threads tab, and again click once on each instance of:

bthCIC.dll

then click the kill button.

BE SURE TO KILL ONLY THIS FILE!!!

Once you have done that click OK again.

Next run Hijack This! and place a check beside each of the following.

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {191a9795-53d9-416a-95c0-3087460fb682} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\bthCIC.dll

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Name Play Bat Draw] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Move log name play\PureData.exe

O9 - Extra button: (no name) - Software - (no file)

O16 - DPF: {4620BC29-8B8E-4F4E-9D92-1DB6633D6793} (SurferNETWORK Plugin) - http://rd1.surfernetwork.com/surferplugin.ocx

O20 - Winlogon Notify: bthCIC - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\bthCIC.dll

Now click Fix checked and close HijackThis.

Step 4:

Find and open the "killme.txt" file with Notepad.

Then copy the file name in the "killme.txt" to the clipboard by highlighting it and pressing C (hold the key down, then press C):

Close "killme.txt".

Double click on Killbox.exe and then check the Delete on reboot button.

In Killbox, past the file name in the "Full Path of File to Delete" text box.

Click the red dot with the white X in it, in the upper right of Killbox, then click "Yes", and "Yes" again.

After the reboot, "copy/paste" a new Hijack This! log file into this thread. :)
Thank you for your quick response. I followed all the instructions and here are the results. Are there any more problems I need to address?

The log looks good.

Delete this folder:

C:\!Killbox

Killbox puts copies of things it removes there. You won't be needing them.

This entry:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Name Play Bat Draw] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Move log name play\PureData.exe

Was a "LOP" infection, probably when you installed MessengerPlus3.

Remove this folder as well:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Move log name play

MessengerPlus - third party MSN Messenger extension that adds a number of useful features. Bundles the hard to remove C2Media LOP adware; the software does offer you a choice during setup: make sure to install MessengerPlus WITHOUT that "sponsor program"!

The problem with LOP is that it usually infects more than one user account (if available). If not totally removed, it will worm it's way back to this one. If you have other user accounts, I suggest you make/post a HijackThis! log from each one.

If no other accounts exist, then you're "good to go".

Thank you for choosing TomCoyote for your malware removal solutions.
