Having Big Issues removing some stuff

Hello, My name is Andy ,and like many others I am sure, I am going crazy here. I have tried everything that I know to do and even downloaded other programs that GARAUNTEE to remove these files. I cant get the ssqtt.dll off my computer. I keep getting popups for win-antivirus. I had QO OLogic on my computer but I did finally get that trojan removed. This one seems to be a bit more stubborn. Please help

Welcome to the forum :wavey:

The malware that causes what you have isn't showing in your log.

The newest variant "hides" from HijackThis!

Please do this:

Rename this file (HijackThis!):

C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe

To:

C:\HJT\noname.exe

Reboot.

Run it, and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis! log file into this thread.

This will reveal anything "hiding".

The only "unusual" item you have showing would be this:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\{F8FE539D-0898-1033-1211-030312240001}\Update.exe

Does that item appear "friendly"?

Kaspersky Online File Scanner

Jotti Online File Scanner

VirusTotal Online File Scanner

And submit this file for a virus scan:

Let me know the results.

You don't have to try all three. If it comes back as "infected", you can stop there.

We'll get rid of that other "bug" in a moment.

Your Winantivirus (a.k.a. "Vundo", a.k.a. "Winfixer") trojan is revealed:

Download VundoFix.exe to your desktop from here:

VundoFix.exe

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

1. Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
2. Click the Scan for Vundo button.
3. Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
4. You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES.
5. Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
6. When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
7. Turn your computer back on.

Post a new HijackThis! log, along with the contents of this file:

C:\vundofix.txt

into this thread.

It appears that it did not work. It said that the files could not be deleted, that Vundo would try to delete after a restart so I clicked OK and it restarted my computer and than I ran Vundo again and the files are still there and I got the same message. Here is the 2 logs you wanted.

Guess we'll have to remove it the "long" way.

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

l2mfix.exe (© Shadowwar)

l2mfix.exe (© Shadowwar)

Save the file to your desktop and l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop.

l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing .

This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, Notepad will open with a log.

Copy/paste the contents of that log into this thread.


IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder!


Also, please do not reboot after posting this log as the infection can "mutate".

Please download Process Explorer by Systernals from:

Process Explorer

Also download/unzip KillBox by Option^Explicit from:

Killbox.zip

Step 2:

Download this file and save it to where you can find it:

FixVundo Registry File

Copy/paste the text in the Quote box below into Notepad, and save it where you can find it as "killme.txt"

C:\WINDOWS\System32\sstqq.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\qqtss.ini


Step 3:

Print out the following instructions as you will not have Internet Access for the rest of this fix.

Reboot in "safe" mode.

The rest of this fix must be done in safe mode.

See if you cand find and delete this file while booted in "safe mode":

C:\Program Files\Common Files\{F8FE539D-0898-1033-1211-030312240001}\Update.exe <– file

Unzip Process Explorer and double click on procexp.exe

In the top section of the Process Exlporer screen double-click on winlogon.exe to bring up the winlogon.exe properties screen. Click on the Threads tab at the top.

Once you see this screen click on each instance of:

sstqq.dll

once and then click the kill button.

After you have killed all of:

sstqq.dll

under winlogon click OK.

If you see any of the files listed below, kill them as well.

Files to look for:

qqtss.ini

BE SURE TO KILL ONLY THESE FILES!!!

Probably not all of them will be present. That is OK.

Next double-click on explorer.exe, select the Threads tab, and again click once on each instance of:

sstqq.dll

then click the kill button.

If you see any of the files listed below kill them as well.

Files to look for:

qqtss.ini

BE SURE TO KILL ONLY THESE FILES!!!

Probably not all of them will be present. That is OK

Once you have done that click OK again.

Next run Hijack This! and place a check beside each of the following.

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {A10EBC03-9739-4A19-80E1-22281F9154EF} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\sstqq.dll

O20 - Winlogon Notify: sstqq - C:\WINDOWS\system32\sstqq.dll

Now click Fix checked and close HijackThis.

Now double-click on the vundo.reg file that you saved earlier and allow it to merge with the registry.

Step 4:

Find and open the "killme.txt" file with Notepad.

Then copy the all file names in the "killme.txt" to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing C (hold the key down, then press C):

Close "killme.txt".

Double click on Killbox.exe and then check the Delete on reboot button.

In Killbox, click File (in the upper left of Killbox), and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

Click the red dot with the white X in it, in the upper right of Killbox, then click "Yes", and "Yes" again.

After the reboot, "copy/paste" a new Hijack This! log file into this thread. :)

Ok didnt work cause under winlogin there are no names all there is are these 0x103d353 !CreateThread+0x27 I went to the explorer one and I saw the files you wanted me to kill so I did it. When I ran the Hijackthis I checked the boxes and fixed. than ran the Vundo and it did the same thing as before.

One other thing I didnt go all the way through your steps because of the errors I got. Should I go back and go through all of them. And I did delete the other file that you told me to locate and delete.

Nothing has changed, except you deleted the update.exe file.

If you don't see any of the listed files in the "Threads" tab, just skip that part and continue with the next step in the fix.
