Hi,

I keep getting pop ups saying things like "System integrity scan wizard" and "System Doctor 2006" and "Drive Cleaner 2006". These are making my computer slow and I understand that they may infect my PC with viruses if I am not careful. I need help as I have no idea what needs to be deleted from my log file. I would appreciate any help anyone can give. I am running Windows XP Home Edition Version 5.1.

Cheers.

Hi,

I really need help but no-one seems to be answering my posts!!

I have a number of pop-ups that are making my PC slow. I have followed the instructions that LDTate gave in this post http://forums.tomcoyote.org/index.php?showtopic=65915. However, the pop-ups still appear. Below you will see the contents of my Smitfiles.txt log and my Hijakthis log. There was no Ewido log even though I set it to "automatically generate report after every scan" and it seemed to work perfectly, deleting 89 files. Can anyone help me as I really don't know what to do next?

Thanks,
George

Thanks,
George

Welcome to the forum :wavey:

Please make a PERMANANT folder for Hijack This!

Important: Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it HJT. MOVE (drag-and-drop) HijackThis into this folder.

If required a tutorial is here = Hijackthis Folder Tutorial

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [links] links.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [b7d9e26b.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\b7d9e26b.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [b7d9e26b.exe] C:\Documents and Settings\George\Local Settings\Application Data\b7d9e26b.exe

Then click "Fix checked" and close Hijack This!.

Reboot in "safe" mode.

Delete all of the following noted (in red) file(s)/FOLDER(s) you can find:

c:\documents and settings\george\local settings\application data\b7d9e26b.exe <— file

c:\windows\system32\b7d9e26b.exe <— file

c:\windows\system32\links.exe <— file

Some malware files may be "hidden".
Be sure to show hidden files when looking for these file(s) and/or folder(s).

Reboot in normal mode and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis! log file into this thread. :)
Hi,

Thank you so much for helping me - it seemed everyone was ignoring me!

Alt Net

Would that be in "Add/Remove Programs"?

Your Java needs updated:

The latest version out is jre1.5.0_07

After updating you must remove previous versions via "Add/Remove Programs".

jre1.5.0_07 update link
Hi, Altnet doesn't appear to be in the Add/Remove Programmes menu. What should I do? Thanks again for your help, much appreciated. Cheers, George
"Fix" these items with HijackThis!:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TrustInstaller] "D:\Setup.exe"

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [AltnetDownloadManager] C:\PROGRA~1\Altnet\DOWNLO~1\adm4005.exe -Embedding

Reboot.
Delete this folder:

C:\PROGRAM FILES\Altnet <– FOLDER

Things working OK for you now?
