Computer has bad delays (again/still)

I thought my problem was solved, but it wasn't. Everytime I click on something, it takes about 10 seconds before it is highlighted. When I watch videos, the audio works ok, but the picture freezes and skips so bad that I can't watch the video. Dropdown menus take a long time to open, etc…

Here is my log…..

Back a little sooner than you hoped, I'm sure…

Fix these with HijackThis!:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
Close the program.

Note: It is normal for the PC to boot slower for the first couple of times after using ATF cleaner. Normal boot time should return after 2 or 3 reboots.

Reboot, and see if things run faster…

Not seeing anything "malicious" in your log file…
Well I am scared to say this again, but everything is working great. I don't think the computer has ran this smooth for a while. I have been using ccleaner at least once a week to keep all the carp** cleared out, but apparently what you suggested got rid of something else. Thanks again and hopefully this time it will be more then a few hours until my next post. Josh
Maybe it was this critter here:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot

I've seen it bog down more than one machine….

This may work to help keep it away:

- Launch RealPlayer
- Click on the Tools and choose Preferences
- Under the Automatic Services category, choose Message Center
- Press the button marked "Configure Message Center"
- UNCHECK the option labeled Checking - Check for new messages
- Choose Yes when the warning pops-up

I'll leave this thread open for a week.

If any problems arise, just post.

:)
Im back!!! It's not quite as bad as before, but not as bad, is still very frustrating. Something is still bogging things down. Media player is one program that is still really bad. I tried to watch a snake video that I had recorded and the audio was perfect, but the video would play about 3 seconds, then freeze, then play 2 or 3 seconds, and freeze again. It does that during the entire movie. I was wondering if the Dell Support would bog things down. Anyway I know you said that there wasn't anything major in my HJT log, but here is another one. Thanks again.

Hello again, Ok here's the deal. I am not at my computer and won't be again until around the 18th. I am on vacation at my parent's. If you need to close this, I can re-post at a later date. If not, I will try what you suggested and get back to you in about 10 days. Thanks again. Josh
