Hello plony :D

Welcome to Tom Coyote, sorry for the delay in responding but most times we are just overwhelmed with logs.

* Go to Start> Run and type in services.msc.
* When the window opens, scroll down and look for RA Server
* Doubleclick on that service to open it.
* Then click on Stop Service
* Then change the Startup Type to Disabled.
* Close out the program.

* Open HJT > Misc Tools> Delete an NT Service

Slave

* Copy the service in the Quote Box and paste it in.
* Click OK.
* Close out HJT.
* Reboot your computer

Open HJT Scan Only, close your browser and all open windows, check this item and click on Fix Checked

It may be gone already

O23 - Service: RA Server (Slave) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\Slave.exe (file missing)

Download and install the 30 day trial of Ewido Anti-Spyware from HERE and save that file to your desktop.

* Once the update has completed select the Scanner icon at the top of the screen, then select the Settings tab.
* Once in the Settings screen click on Recommended actions and then select Quarantine
* Under Reports

this will bring up a menu.
* Use the Up and Down Arrow Keys to scroll up to SAFEMODE
* Then press the Enter on your Keyboard

IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while ewido is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning proccess:

* Lauch Ewido-Anti-Spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
* Select the Scanner icon at the top and then the Scan tab then click on Complete System Scan.
* Ewido will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time.

Thank a lot.

Please let me know if I have to do more actions

Plony
plony, :D

I keep finding more information about your problem. If you look at the Ewido Report, you can see that eMule brought a few virues along with it. It does not appear that eMule is a bad program itself, but it did bring some viruses along with the files you downloaded.

In reference to this entry, it seems to be part of eMule that was removed by Ewido
O23 - Service: DHCP-Verwaltung - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\xerox\err\services.exe (file missing)

If eMule is still listed in your Add-Remove Programs in your Control Panel, go ahead and uninstall it. Once your clean, its your option if you want to download and reinstall it.

* Go to Start> Run and type in services.msc then press Enter
* Scroll down to DHCP-Verwaltung
* Double Click that service to open it.
* Click on Stop Service.
* Then change the Startup Type to Disabled.
* OK your way out of the program.

Open HJT Scan Only and remove that entry
O23 - Service: DHCP-Verwaltung - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\xerox\err\services.exe (file missing)
If a problem should occur, you can always restore it by opening up HJT > View a List of Backups and restore it.

If no problems, we will have to delete that services.exe file, but hang off on it now.

I would also like you to close out MSN Messenger Service , then run HJT and post a new log please.

Ken
I have done HijackThis ewido, anti-spyware - Scan again, correct "O23 - Service: DHCP-Verwaltung…"

I have done all the instructions
and it seems all right.

However i will let it go for a few days, reinstall emule and then
see if it is better.

By the way, I have another problem as it showen on the following images:

safemode
[external image: Posted Image]

normalmode
[external image: Posted Image]

On the normalmode the "DATA(C:)" drive and the icon of it was exchange with "Tom Tom(C:)" and a funy icon.
Do you have any solution for this problem?

Thanks
Plony
plony, I am looking into your problem and will be back most likely tomorrow . Let me ask you, have your C and D drives always been shared or has this just started? Ken
Good Morning plony

What I am asking you is have both the C: and D: drives always had the little hand icon under them to show that those drives are shared? Have you noticed this before? Is your C: drive with Tom Tom always looked like that or is this a new problem?

You can let programs like eMule share certain folders, it looks like unless you are on a network that you are sharing your entire C: drive and your D: drive…<— VERY DANGEROUS

What I would do is this..

1. Right click on Start…then click on Explore and right click on both your C: and D: drives and click on Sharing and Security and check the radio button that says DO NOT SHARE THIS FOLDER.

2. You can also right click on your C: drive and rename the drive.

3. Download this little freeware tool http://joost.endoria.net/home/
run it and it can allow you to change the icons for your hard drive…..

Let me know if this helps.

Ken :D
Hi Ken, 1. I have changed C: and D: to -> DO NOT SHARE THIS FOLDER. 2. I couldn't change by rename the drive ( I tried it before). 3. I tried to change back the icon with IconTweaker - no success. The strange thing is that in safemode the problem doesn't exist. It is that something prevent the real icon to show up. Thanks Plony
Plony,

The gal in our IT department said that eMule was very popular in Europe but she said she would stay away from that program. So its your call to re install it.

I am not sure but I have a feeling that this is related to the installation of eMule.
