Attempting to delete C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddccb.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddccb.dll Could not be deleted.

:(

Boot in "safe mode", and try Vundofix again.

If you get any files that say "Could not be deleted" in C:\vundofix.txt, then we'll have to do it "the 'hard' way'.

"The 'hard' way" begins like this (do this if any file "could not be deleted"):

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

l2mfix.exe (© Shadowwar)

l2mfix.exe (© Shadowwar)

Save the file to your desktop and l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop.

l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing .

This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, Notepad will open with a log. Copy/paste the contents of that log into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder!
One more thing… After posting the Look2Me fix log, please do not reboot your machine. The infection can change with every boot, causing "the fix" to fail. :)
vundofix didn't work in safe mode either. :( L2MFIX find log 051206 These are the registry keys present ********************************************************************************** Step 1:

Please download Process Explorer by Systernals from:

Process Explorer

Step 2:

Download this file and save it to where you can find it.:

FixVundo Registry File

Copy/paste the text in the Quote box below into Notepad, and save it where you can find it as "killme.txt"

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ddccb.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\bccdd.ini
C:\WINDOWS\System32\bccdd.bak1

Step 3:

Print out the following instructions as you will not have Internet Access for the rest of this fix.

Reboot in "safe" mode.

The rest of this fix must be done in safe mode.

Unzip Process Explorer and double click on procexp.exe

In the top section of the Process Exlporer screen double-click on winlogon.exe to bring up the winlogon.exe properties screen. Click on the Threads tab at the top.

Once you see this screen click on each instance of:

ddccb.dll

once and then click the kill button.

After you have killed all of:

ddccb.dll

under winlogon click OK.

If you see any of the files listed below, kill them as well.

Files to look for:
————————–
bccdd.ini
bccdd.bak1

BE SURE TO KILL ONLY THESE FILES!!!

Probably not all of them will be present. That is OK.

Next double-click on explorer.exe, select the Threads tab, and again click once on each instance of:

ddccb.dll

then click the kill button.

If you see any of the files listed below kill them as well.

Files to look for:
————————–
bccdd.ini
bccdd.bak1

BE SURE TO KILL ONLY THESE FILES!!!

Probably not all of them will be present. That is OK

Once you have done that click OK again.

Close Process explorer.

Next run Hijack This! and place a check beside each of the following.

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {223BFC52-9A9B-4182-9F91-DE44721314A3} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddccb.dll

O20 - Winlogon Notify: ddccb - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddccb.dll

O20 - Winlogon Notify: wingdm32 - wingdm32.dll (file missing)

Now click Fix checked and close HijackThis.

Now double-click on the vundo.reg file that you saved earlier and allow it to merge with the registry.

Step 4:

Open the "killme.txt" file, saved earlier, with Notepad.

Then copy the all file names in the "killme.txt" to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing C (hold the key down, then press C):

Close "killme.txt".

Double click on Killbox.exe and then check the Delete on reboot button.

In Killbox, click File (in the upper left of Killbox), and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

Click the red dot with the white X in it, in the upper right of Killbox, then click "Yes", and "Yes" again.

After the reboot, "copy/paste" a new Hijack This! log file into this thread. :)
I was looking over the Look2Me fix log….

Directory of C:\WINDOWS\System32

07/01/2006 02:53 PM 20,624 SysPr.prx

I started looking for that, because it looked "suspicious".

That led me here:

Troj/Bifrose-HM

That explains these that you had:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [startkey] C:\WINDOWS\system32\Microsoft.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [startkey] C:\WINDOWS\system32\Microsoft.exe

Same infection as at that link above, just a different name for the "EXE".

The "tipoff" is "[startkey]".

Find and delete these files:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\SysPr.prx
C:\WINDOWS\System32\plugin1.dat

The first one will be "hidden", according to Sophos.
:)
Ugh a long one. The two files that you posted in the second post, the second one plugin1.dat was found and removed. I could not find SysPr.prx even viewing hidden files and searching for hidden files.

Log looks good!!!

Copy the text in the following quote box into Notepad:

attrib -r -s -h C:\WINDOWS\System32\SysPr.prx
del C:\WINDOWS\System32\SysPr.prx

Save it to your desktop as ff.bat.

Now, the ff.bat file on the desktop.

A DOS window will briefly open, then close.

That will take care of the last file.

Thank you for choosing TomCoyote for your malware removal solutions.

One minor detail you may want to address…

Your Java needs updated.

The latest version out is jre1.5.0_07

After updating you must remove previous versions via "Add/Remove Programs".
