I previously had a problem with SpywareQuake but that no longer appears and instead I get continual popups from Internet Explorer asking me to download SysProtect or some other "Anti-Spyware" product.
Thanks for any help.

Hi Zed0 -
We are currently studying your log and will have instructions for you shortly. Thank you for your patience.
Hello Zed0 -
• I see that you have no Anti-Virus program ("AV") present on your system. Please install an Anti-Virus program.
AVG -or-
AntiVir® -or-
Avast are good FREE Anti-Virus programs.
Never install more than one Anti-Virus scanner on your system! Having more than one AV installed will likely cause your system to become unstable and seriously decrease the reliable detection of any malware.
Let your Anti-Virus perform a full scan and let it delete everything it finds.
• Then, I want you to re-name HijackThis.exe to analyze.exe by doing the following:
- Navigate to C:\Program Files\HJT
- Right-click onto HijackThis.exe and select "Rename"
- Type
analyze.exe and hit Enter.
• Finally, double-click onto analyze.exe (which is still hijackthis) and post back with the new log.

Hi Zed0 -
Thanks. The hidden infection is now showing, so I want you to do the following.
• Please download
Vundofix.exe by Atribune and save it to your desktop.
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it. Put a check next to Run VundoFix as a task . You will receive a message saying vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK When VundoFix re-opens, click the Scan for Vundo button. Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button. In case it says that nothing was been found, Right click the list box (white box) in the main VundoFix window. Select “Add More Files?” from the menu that comes up. This will open a new VundoFix window. In the Window: copy and paste next in the first field: C:\WINDOWS\System32\mllml.dll Copy and paste next in the second field: C:\WINDOWS\System32\lmllm.* Click the “Add Files” button. Click the "Close Window" button. Click the Remove Vundo button. You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo. When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK. Turn your computer back on. Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
Ok, did that, Vundofix didn't find anything so I had to add the lines you suggested.
I'm not sure if you expected it to be gone now or not but I'm still getting random IE popups.
Thanks for taking the time to help.

Thanks for the information. I would imagine that you're still being bothered with pop-ups because your system is badly infected. Please do the following in the order given - this is important!
• Download
KillBox and save it to your Desktop.
-
Right -click onto KillBox.zip
- Select
Extract All and click
Next
- In the window that says "Files will be extracted to this directory" - type
C:\Killbox
- Click
Next and make sure "Show Extracted Files" is checked

Finish
• Make sure that
Ewido is updated. Do NOT scan with it yet!
• Please set your system to show all files.
- Click Start.
- Open My Computer.
- Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
- Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files
and folders.
- Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
- Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
- Click Yes to confirm.

• Reboot into SAFE MODE.
To get into the Windows XP Safe Mode, restart your computer and, just before Windows starts to load, tap the F8 key a few times. Choose Safe Mode from the menu that will appear and press Enter.

Hi,
I want you to try Killbox again.
• Click killbox.exe.
Select the option "Delete on reboot".
In the field "Full Path of File to Delete" copy and paste next:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mllml.dll
Choose the option: "unregister dll before deleting"
Click the red circle with the white cross in it.
Killbox will tell you that this file will be deleted on next reboot.. click YES
When killbox asks to reboot now, click YES
If you get the following message again: "PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by External Process!" - reboot your system manually
Your system will reboot now into Normal Mode.
• Post back with a new HijackThis log.
Also, your log is showing a program from Advanced Systems International SAC which seems to be a program regarding usb removable storage devices, i.e., this entry:
O23 - Service: ssrvc - Advanced Systems International SAC - C:\Program Files\ssrvc\ssrvc.exe
Did you install this?
I did as you said, the "PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by External Process!" message came up so I rebooted manually but
O20 - Winlogon Notify: mllml - C:\WINDOWS\system32\mllml.dll
is still appearing.
I did install RP Lock (the program that was causing O23 - Service: ssrvc - Advanced Systems International SAC - C:\Program Files\ssrvc\ssrvc.exe) but I had forgotten about it, your posting reminded me I no longer needed it so it has now been uninstalled.

Hi,
Thanks for the information about that O23 program. Since KillBox isn't working, please do the following.
• Download L2MFix from one of these sites:
http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe
- Save the file to your Desktop
- Double-click onto L2mfix.exe
- Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts
- Open the newly-added L2mfix folder on your desktop
- Double-click L2mfix.bat , select #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 , and press Enter
- This will scan your computer. It may appear that nothing is happening but, after a minute or two, Notepad will open with the log.
- Post back with the contents of the log.
IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 Or any other files in the L2mfix folder until you are asked to do so.
While running option #1, if you receive an error similar to: ''C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications", choose 'Close' to terminate the application..".
Then, use option 5 or the web page link in the L2mfix folder to solve this error condition. Do make a log without fixing this first.
That scanned without error, here is the log it produced:
L2MFIX find log 051206

Hi,
Open HijackThis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools section " button
Click the "Open process manager " button
Check the "Show DLLs " box (upper right)
Check to see which processes are using C:\Windows\system32\mllml.dll
Post back and let me know all processes using that DLL.
I don't think I missed any but these two were both using that DLL:
820 C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe
652 C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE
Hi,
Please follow these steps in the order given. You will need to print these instructions because you will be working in Safe Mode without an Internet connection.
Step 1:
Please download
Process Explorer
Step 2:
Download this file and save it where you can find it:
FixVundo Registry File
Copy and paste the following in the Quote box below into Notepad, name it "
killme.txt , and save it where you can find it.
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\mllml.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\lmllm.ini
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\lmllm.bak2
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\lmllm.bak1
Step 3:
Print out the following instructions because you will be working in Safe Mode without an Internet connection.
Reboot into Safe Mode. Begin tapping the F8 key as the computer begins to reboot but before Windows loads. Select Safe Mode and press Enter.
The rest of this fix must be done in safe mode.
Unzip Process Explorer and double click on

If you see any of the files listed below kill them as well.
Files to look for:
————————–
