Hello and welcome to TomCoyote forum, if you still need help and are not receiving it elsewhere, let's do this:

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O2 - BHO: System Process - {C2EEB4FA-B6D6-41b9-9CFA-ABA87F862BCB} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\navshext1.dll (file missing)
(next two are related to Alexa toolbar and resources wasters if you don't use it)
O9 - Extra button: Related - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Show &Related Links - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm
(next, probably your problem: http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/trojadclickaz.html )
O21 - SSODL: SystemCheck2 - {54645654-2225-4455-44A1-9F4543D34546} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\vbsys2.dll

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

Enable hidden files&folders..reverse the process when finished.
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\vbsys2.dll <<< file (if there)

C:\Windows\Prefetch\ >>> delete the contents (NOT THE FOLDER)
Prefetch info: http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_…refetch-XP.html

Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Review the instructions http://www.ccleaner.com/help/tour1.asp
Run CCleaner, Windows & Applications when you run the registry cleaner (Issues) you will be prompted to backup before you can remove stuff, make sure you do.

Restart the computer and post a new HJT log along with your comments. Did that do it?

Thanks…pskelley

Hi and thanks for returning the information. Your log is clean, but I want to ask about this:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\vbsys2.dll <<< it is mising from the log and that was probably the trojan responsible for the popups, but I want to make sure it is gone from your computer. You said:

Hi I've followed what you've said but I can't delete the file

Does this mean your could not find it or that you could not delete it? Sometime a bad file has to be deleted in safe mode, if it is running widows does not know good from bad only that it is in use.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial61.html
You start in safe mode and it is not running, easy to delete.

You can also do this: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial42.html
See number 8: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/…l42.html#delreb
and there are others ways and tools. You make sure if that file is there that you delete it or let me know for additional help.

As I said your HJT log is clean and if all is working as it should be I will leave you this important information:

Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
http://boards.cexx.org/viewtopic.php?t=957
http://russelltexas.com/malware/allclear.htm
http://forum.malwareremoval.com/viewtopic.php?t=14
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topict2520.html
http://cybercoyote.org/security/not-admin.shtml

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen…src=sec_doc_nam

Here is a nice tool to clean for you, just read the information, download it and follow the directions:

Safe surfing…Phil :wavey:
