Hello,

Recently, my Internet Explorer has been redirecting me to to other webpages when clicking on links such as google search results. After a few occurances, I ran Ad-Ware SE Personal. I deleted all of the cookies it found to be suspicious along with a few other files. I proceeded to test out my IE and found the problem had been unresolved. I then ran Spybot Search and Destroy. Three problems came up and all three were said to be fixed by SS&D. I rebooted and ran SS&D to be sure and the only problem that returned was the Pipas.A. I also ran AVG, but it does not detect it. Below is my HJT Log for reference. Can someone help me with this and any other problems that show up in my log file? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

Once the desktop loads post the text that will open (report.txt). Save the file on your desktop.

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"


Delete these Files if listed:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmfok.exe

Reboot

Post the (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log in the forum please.

Thanks for your help so far! The file, O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dmfok.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmfok.exe, was not listed when I did the HJT scan after the Fixwareout.exe. After I "Fixed Checked" I manually deleted the dmfok.exe file and rebooted. Here are both my logs:

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.


(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time.


Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

You need to create a new Clean restore point.

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Check "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, Uncheck "Show hidden files and folders."
Check "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.





If you dont have these programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.
