Hello scopio69 and Welcome to TomCoyote,

Please do the following:

Disable Microsoft Windows Defender:
We need to disable your Microsoft Windows Defender Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.
  • Open Microsoft Windows Defender. Click Start, Programs, Windows Defender
  • Click on Tools, General Settings.
  • Under Real-time protection options, unselect the Turn on real-time protection check box
  • Click Save
After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

Scan with HijackThis. Place a check against each of the following:
O16 - DPF: {97B79133-88F0-45F0-8D57-0F2EF27D9C66} - http://85.255.114.166/1/rdgGB2404.exe
O20 - Winlogon Notify: winwil32 - winwil32.dll (file missing)

Close all windows or browsers except for Hijackthis. Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

STEP 1.
======
SpySweeper

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Please do not delete anything unless you are instructed to.

Download the trial version of Spy Sweeper from Here
  • Install it using the Standard Install option. (You will be asked for your e-mail address, it is safe to give it. If you receive alerts from your firewall, allow all activities for Spy Sweeper) You will be prompted to check for updated definitions, please do so.
    (This may take several minutes)
  • Click on Options > Sweep Options and check Sweep all Folders on Selected drives. Check Local Disc C. Under What to Sweep, check every box.
  • Click on Sweep and allow it to fully scan your system. If you are prompted to restart the computer, do so immediately. This is a necessary step to kill the infection!
  • When the sweep has finished, click Remove. Click Select All and then Next
  • From 'Results', select the Session Log tab. Click Save to File and save the log somewhere convenient.
  • Exit Spy Sweeper.

STEP 2.
======
I see you have ewido but please run a scan
  • From the main ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
  • After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
  • Click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on Complete System Scan. This scan can take quite a while to run.
  • If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. Select "clean" and check the boxes "Perform action with all infections" and "Create encrypted backup" before clicking on OK.
  • When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file. Make sure you know where to find this file again.
Empty Recycle Bin
Reboot

Please post (reply) with the results from SpySweeper, ewido and a new hijackthis log.

hello Susan528,

i do as u asked! i turned off real time on windows defender and deleted the 2 items in the hijack this log. I have also ran the spy sweeper and ewido scan! The log reports for hijack, spy sweeper and ewido are below!

Is there anythnig else out the normal in these logs i can deal with?

Also, for the last month or so my dvd drive has started automaticaly without me doing anything that could be linked to the dvd drive. Could this be a sign of a some one accessing my laptop remotely? i have file and print sharing turned off in my wirless card! Or could it be another virus or something??

Kind Regards,
Scorpio69

Hello scopio69,

Let's do a couple of scans and see what we find out.

Now run this online scan using Internet Explorer:
Kaspersky Online Scanner from http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner

Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
  • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
  • Standard
  • Scan Options:
  • Scan Archives
  • Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan:
  • Select My Computer
  • This will program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
  • Now click on the Save as Text button:
  • Save the file to your desktop.
Copy and paste that information from Kapersky in your next post.

Blacklight

Download Blacklight Beta from here:
http://www.f-secure....light/try.shtml
  • Hit I accept. It will take you to download page.
  • Download blbeta.exe and save it to the Desktop.
  • Once saved... double click blbeta.exe to install the program.
  • Click accept agreement and Click scan
This app too may fire off a warning from antivirus. Let the driver load.
    Wait for it to finish.
  • If it displays any items...don't do anything with them yet. Just hit exit (close)
  • It will drop a log on Desktop that starts with fsbl....big number
Please post (reply) with contents of log that starts with fsbl....big number, the Kapersky report and a new hijackthis log

Hey Susan528,

Thanks for the help. i have done as you asked and ran the Kaspersky Online Scanner and the Blacklight Beta. Plese find below the log reports for Kaspersky Online Scanner and Hijack This.

The Blacklight Beta program didnt find any hidden processes, files or folders. :D

The Kaspersky Online Scanner found a items which i thought i got rid of before! It was a dial up programe designed to run up the phone bill i think! :rant2: The folder the files are located in, won't give me access... i am admin on this laptop!!

My Virus Scanner (Symantec Corp Ed) has found a virus as well. I made a log report of this and posted it below.

Where do i go from here coz i cant get rid of the files

Kind Regards,
Scorpio 69.

Hello scopio69,

Let's do the final clean-up. Your hijackthis log appears to be clean. Step 3 will clear out those _restore files.

I did not notice a firewall application. Are you relying on the Windows XP firewall? There are firewall applications that are free for personal use that you can install. I would recommend using firewall application. Please read about firewalls.

Be sure to update your Java. They came out with a new release recently.

STEP 1.
======
Cleanmgr
To clean temporary files:
  • Go > start > run and type cleanmgr and click OK
  • Scan your system for files to remove.
  • Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.
  • Click OK to remove those files.
  • Click Yes to confirm deletion.
STEP 2.( Windows XP only)
======
Prefetch Folder
Open C:\Windows\Prefetch\
Delete All files in this folder but not the Prefetch folder

STEP 3.
======
System Restore for Windows XP
Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected)
  • Turn off System Restore.
  • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
  • Click Properties.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • Check Turn off System Restore.
  • Click Apply, and then click OK.
Reboot.

Turn ON System Restore.
  • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
  • Click Properties.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
  • Click Apply, and then click OK.

STEP 4.
======
DON’T BECOME OVERCONFIDENT WITH ANTIVIRUS APPLICATIONS INSTALLED!!!

http://forum.malware...39eba6ea0b5e8ee

Stay up to date on security patches and be extremely wary of clicking on links and attachments that arrive unbidden in instant messages and e-mail.

"The number one thing the majority of the malicious code we're seeing now does is disable or delete anti-virus and other security software," Dunham said. "In a lot of cases, once the user clicks on that attachment, it's already too late."

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:
  • Update your AntiVirus Software - It is imperative that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.

  • Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is susceptible to being hacked and taken over. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly.
For a tutorial on Firewalls and a listing of some available ones see the link below:
    Understanding and Using Firewalls

  • Test your Firewall - Please test your firewall and make sure it is working properly.
    Test Firewall

  • Visit Microsoft's Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit Windows Updates regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.

  • Install Spybot - Search and Destroy - Install and download Spybot - Search and Destroy with its TeaTimer option. This will provide realtime spyware & hijacker protection on your computer alongside your virus protection. You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software.
A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:
Using Spybot - Search & Destroy to remove Spyware , Malware, and Hijackers

  • Install Ad-Aware - Install and download Ad-Aware. ou should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software in conjunction with Spybot.
A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:
Using Ad-aware to remove Spyware, Malware, & Hijackers from Your Computer

  • Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will added a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs.
A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:
Using SpywareBlaster to protect your computer from Spyware and Malware

  • Update your Java to the latest version. Uninstall any and all versions you have listed in add/remove programs and install the latest version from here:
    https://sdlc6c.sun.c...4E1EA2D176EE3EA

  • Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.

  • More info on how to prevent malware you can also find here (By Tony Klein)
Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically.

Thank you for allowing me to assist you.
