I received a message from one of the real pro's, miekiemoes :D

C:\Program Files\Common Files\mehe.html

That should be the cause. That one is loaded as an active desktop. You asked for the silent runners log but the user never waited till he got the prompt that scanning with silent runners was finished, which explains an incomplete log.

Or if you ask to create next batch to show an export of next key:

regedit /e look.txt "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop\Components"
start notepad look.txt

It should show the related file.
Let him delete that html (guess he probaby didn't delete it previously) and let him perform next afterwards:

Go to start > control panel > Display properties > Desktop > Customize Desktop... > Web tab > uncheck and delete everything you find in there. (except for "My current home page")

Can you check and make sure you deleted C:\Program Files\Common Files\mehe.html
Also either run Silent Runners again and make sure it completes or run the regedit above? Click Start> Run and paste regedit /e look.txt "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop\Components"
start notepad look.txt

That should give you a file named look.txt. Please post that file.

BTW, I never received the email :scratch:

Good morning LDTate!! Actually I deleted that file after post #86 but I have been plugging and unplugging the cable so I couldn't tell. I left the cable unplugged last night and I plugged it back in 5 mins ago. So far, no pop ups. Let's see what happens! Trying NOT to get TOO optimistic. :lol:

I copied and pasted the entire bold sentence to Open and click OK...Nothing happened. Should I run Silent Runner instead?

LDTate, when I rebooted a window popped up "Opening ADSAdClient31.dll" from http://rad.msn.com.
I cancelled it. E-mailed it to you. What is that?!!!!

******That window continues to pop up. Asking me to save file.

******It only appears when I go to msn.com. I am using Firefox as my default browser. When I open with google.com it does not appear.

I can see it in the silent runner scan:

Active Desktop web content:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop\Components\0\
"FriendlyName" = ""
"Source" = "C:\Program Files\Common Files\mehe.html"
"SubscribedURL" = ""

Next, launch Notepad (Start>All Programs>Accessories), and copy/paste all the bold REGEDIT below to it
Save in: Desktop
File Name: fixme.reg
Save as Type: All files
Click: Save

Note: Don't forget to include the REGEDIT4

REGEDIT4

[-HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop\Components\0\
"FriendlyName" = ""
"Source" = "C:\Program Files\Common Files\mehe.html"
"SubscribedURL" = ""]

On the desktop, doubleclick fix.reg and allow it to run. Let it merge.

Delete these Files if listed:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\mehe.html

OK, I double click on the fix.reg file I saved on the Desktop and it asked me if I want to add name to registry. I click yes and it said the name was added successfully.

What about the screen I e-mailed to you earlier? It pops up with Opening ADSAdClient31.dll everytime I go to MSN.com even though I am using Firefox. Is it trying to reinstall or is this a legitmate MS program? How do I get rid off it? Here is a new log. So far so good except for the Opening ADSAdClient31.dll file that keeps coming up. I have a feeling if I click OK, it will save and casue havoc again.

Never got the emails.

Make sure you've done this:

Go to start > control panel > Display properties > Desktop > Customize Desktop... > Web tab > uncheck and delete everything you find in there. (except for "My current home page")

Go here and Shoot The Messenger
http://www.grc.com/s...hemessenger.htm

Let me know if that kills it.

I have deleted the mehe.html file from the web tab. Forgot to uncheck it the first time so it was still there. But was able to delete after unchecking. ShoottheMessenger is working and I am keeping it disabled. I think I am almost clean except for the pop up window everytime I go to msn.com. Here is what it says:

Opening ADSAdClient31.dll

You have chosen to open:

ADSAdClient31.dll
which is a: Application Extension
from: http://rad.msn.com
What should Firefox do with the file?

Open with dllfile (default)
Save to disk

I have been cancelling it. What is making it popup and what is it?

PEACE AND QUIET finally! Thank you! If you were in the area, I would buy you breakfast, lunch and dinner!! But since you are in Missouri, I will send some money to Tom Wilson so this forum stays open to help people like me. Thanks for all your help. I really appreciate it and would have been lost without it. :D I hope this forum continues for a long long time. Did I say thank you already?
