"Sun Microsystems has issued an update to fix stability and security problems with its Java software. It includes all operating systems. It is recommended that you update to the latest version. it's also necessary to remove the old java environments, not just update the new versions, as an attacker can target the old environments when they are still present."

…yet unable to find a JRE v1.5.0_07 download/update on the Sun site. All are the JSE update, even though it may say JRE. (?)…

I downloaded the "correct" one (the install "exe" even says it's jre… at 18.6MB). But when I attempted the install, it clearly states "J2SE Runtime Environment is preparing to install…". My mistake, I guess - but it's about as clear as mud.

EDIT/ADD:
'Just went here: http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_xpi.jsp and it now shows "Java Runtime Environment Version 5.0 Update 7" at 18.23MB, but it's the same 18.6MB file - 'must be the right one (me says, guessing all the way).
