An issue I've been having with my laptop is that it's very loud. I've only had it for about 2 years and only recently did I start having this problem. Could this be due to a virus? I'm quite computer illiterate. In addition, when I try to shut down, my laptop stays on the blue "Windows is shutting down" screen and does not shut down unless I force shutdown. Have any ideas of what's wrong? Thank you again for your help!

First - the log looks OK - How's it running??

—————————

my laptop is that it's very loud - I'm not sure what you mean - the computer itself is loud?

OK, here's some links to look at, especially the first one, step #3 and #5

Some more info here to check:

Here's a shut down shortcut I use which works great:

http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=316

%windir%\System32\shutdown.exe -s -f -t 00 <—I use this one

Let me know, MrC
It's running perfectly now. It's a lot faster and I fixed the shut down problem I was having. What I mean by the laptop being loud is that the internal fan is constantly running now and is very loud. It makes an annoying "whirring" sort of sound. This laptop is only about 2 years old and I did not start having this problem until a few months ago. Do I need some sort of cooling fan? Thank you for the help!

Don't open e-mail attachments without first scanning them with an up-to-date
anti virus program, even after doing that I would be very careful. Don't click on any executables in e-mails or any other links that you're not sure of.
Watch your surfing habits, don't click on or download anything you're not sure of. Don't install a program that hasn't been recommended by a reputable organization.
