How do I get rid of ads and sites popping up. I have tried several programs including Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy but they keep coming back. Here is my log:

Sorry, I didn't see the part where I was supposed to tell you how the computer is responding. At this time there have not been any pop ups but they don't come constantly, maybe 1-2/hour. Thank you for your help
It's been about 1 hour and I have not had any intrusive pop ups. I have noticed that the computer was slower when playing a game and also that I am now able to open the Device Manager tab (Control Panel –System – Hardware – Device Manager) which I was not able to open before (I got the message that it was being used by another program). I will let you know if there are any other changes.
Good Job

Log looks good :D

You need to create a new Clean restore point.

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Check "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, Uncheck "Show hidden files and folders."
Check "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Safe Surfing. :D

I would also suggest you read this:
So how did I get infected in the first place?
by Tony Klein
I've done all you suggested and so far, so good. I'll wait until tomorrow to make sure and if it is still working (I'm also from the "show me" state - Kirkwood) I will be donating in your honor. Your help has been greatly appreciated and, even for a computer novice such as myself, easy to follow. Again, Thank You
Maybe I spoke too soon. No malware but my computer is running very slowly. It's almost impossible to watch videos - they take very long to load. I defragged the hard drive and cleaned out everything with Disk Defragmenter and Disc Cleaner. Is this just a coincidence or did I change something I shouldn't have?
lets see if this will help speed it up.

Backup your Registry…
- Press "CTRL - ALT - DEL" keys all at the same time to start "Task Manager"
- In the Task Manager window click on "File", then from the drop-down menu select "New Task (Run…)"
- In the "Create New Task" window enter\type "regedit" (without quotes)
- Once Regedit opens click on the FILE menu and select Export
- Save the file as backup. Save the file somewhere you will remember and not delete.
IMPORTANT: make sure to set the export range to ALL

I recommend you download RegSeeker. Extract it to it's own folder, open and double click RegSeeker.exe to start the program. Maximize the window and click clean registry. Check all sections and click OK. When the scan is complete, verify the backup box in lower left corner is checked and click the select all button, then select all again. Then right click within the search results and select delete. Run it again and again, deleting everything it finds until it finds nothing. Reboot and make sure your programs are working properly, control panel and add/remove programs windows open, etc (basically just do a quick check of everything). In the event anything was 'broken', you can open RegSeeker, click backups and double click any/all files to put the information back. A reboot may be required for the effects to be seen. Reboot When done.

NOTE: To be extra safe you can choose to only remove the items in RED.
This did seem to help with programs loading faster but I'm still having trouble with videos. I can play games that require graphics (pinball, pool) but when I try to load a video (e.g. from youtube) it takes a long time buffering and never seems to get it all before beginning to play the video which then starts and stops (I guess because all the "buffering" wasn't completed). Hope you know what I'm talking about. Thanks again, Paul
