Basically i just was curious to see if there was anything that didn't need to be running, (i only run norton when i'm doing a virus scan, or using it's utilities, i let AVG do the virus monitoring) i've just seen a slight performance decrease lately.
Hello and welcome to TomCoyote forum. If you still need help and are not receiving it elsewhere.

1) Tell you what, I do not see more than a little clutter in this log.

2) I would not start troubleshooting a log with two antivirus programs running at once. To many strange things can happen as they conflict with each other > Here is what Symantec has to say:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.n…000031316555206 and Microsoft in that same link:
"Microsoft recommends that you have only one anti-virus program installed on your computer."
I suggest you uninstall one, undate and do a complete system scan with the other.

3) Your HJT.exe is out of date. You are running it now from: D:\Utilities\hijackthis1.99\HijackThis.exe D:\ must be a drive, HJT must run from your hard drive. Here is a link: http://www.merijn.org/files/HijackThis.exe You can save that file to the same folder as long as D:\ is a drive. It will replace the old version.

If you want me to do more, complete the above instructions then post a new HJT log in this same topic. I will be notified and respond as soon as possible after that.

Thanks…pskelley

Thanks for returning your HJT log, I see only a little clutter, but since you posted, lets clean a little and then see how you are running, thanks.

1) D:\temp\HijackThis.exe <<< Not safe, please move HJT.exe to here: C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe. Needs a permanent folder to safely store backups and logs in case they are needed.

2) Download, update, configure and run these two programs: http://tomcoyote.org/aawsb.php
The newest version of Ad-aware is 1.06 and Spybot 1.04. Even if you have these programs, use the link to get the newest version, update and configure them as in the link. Run Spybot first, reboot then run Ad-aware. Both programs back up what they remove so delete anything the programs say should be removed.

3) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
O2 - BHO: Nothing - {7a932ed2-1737-4ab8-b84d-c71779958551} - (no file)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: winjyp32 - winjyp32.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: WRNotifier - WRLogonNTF.dll (file missing)
(old Spysweeper line)

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

Enable hidden files&folders..reverse the process when finished.
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\Windows\Prefetch\ >>> delete the contents (NOT THE FOLDER)
Prefetch info: http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_…refetch-XP.html

Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Review the instructions http://www.ccleaner.com/help/tour1.asp
Run CCleaner, Windows & Applications when you run the registry cleaner (Issues) you will be prompted to backup before you can remove stuff, make sure you do.

Restart the computer and post a last HJT log along with any comments you think will help.

Thanks…Phil

It seems to run a little better, i appreciate the help your giving me, is there anything else that looks off or any other programs that would help?
PS: I just recently aquired my A+ Certification, so this will definitely help me on fixing future computers. Oh, and i had the lastest spybot and adaware, but i went ahead and updated and run those anyways, although i haven't come across ccleaner before, it seems to do a good job.
Congratulations on the certification. Did they give you any malware removal during the training? There are several free training opportunites available. If you have an interest, let me know.
I don't see a lot in the log that you can do. If I had to make suggestions they would be:

Get rid of this: bho2gr Class {31FF080D-12A3-439A-A2EF-4BA95A3148E8} L BHO msie2gr.dll, xx2gr.dll GetRight
I just don't believe there is any real benefit to them.

Everything else looks to be ok. Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:

Hey, ya, i got alot of hands on training with malware removal, but the thing is, i've never had to do as an extensive removing as this, it's either been, just a little bit of virus and spyware removal, or so much that a format and reinstall has to be done, so i'm pritty much learning the rest as i go, heh. Ok, thanks for all the info, Laters. Jake
