My computer has recently gotten the howiper.exe virus and I don't know how to get rid of it, please help. I tried to run a virus scan but it stops running after about 2 min, and i can't run a adware scan either.
hi
* Click here to download HJTsetup.exe
  • Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
  • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
  • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
Here is my hijackthis:

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
Once the desktop loads post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log in the forum please.
when i tired to run FixWareout, it gets to the point where it says press any key to continue and I do but nothing happens. Does it take awhile for the program to run once i press any key?
hi a while yes, but not that long really are there any error messages or similar ? is your firewall asking questions, or is your antivirus alerting on scripts ?
When it tells me to press any key to continue, i do so and the little blinking dash that is beside the dots goes down one line and continues to flash. My firewall and antivirus arent doing anything when i try running fixwareout. If i try and close fixwareout or any other windows the computer will freeze.
hi

we can try another way to clean it:

Download and Save Blacklight to your desktop:

Double-click blbeta.exe then accept the agreement, click > scan then > next

You'll see a list of all items found. There will also be a log on your desktop with the name fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (the xxxxxxx stand for numbers).

Copy and paste this log in your next reply. Don't choose the rename option yet! I want to see the log first, because legitimate items can also be present there, such as "wbemtest.exe"
Here is the blacklight log. Do I clean the hidden items. I pressed next once after it scanned now it says step 2 cleaning. Do I go any further or wait for your response? 04/30/06 20:59:12 [Info]: BlackLight Engine 1.0.36 initialized 04/30/06 20:59:12 [Info]: OS: 5.0 build 2195 (Service Pack 4) 04/30/06 20:59:12 [Note]: 7019 4 04/30/06 20:59:12 [Note]: 7005 0 04/30/06 20:59:23 [Note]: 7006 0 04/30/06 20:59:24 [Note]: 7011 912 04/30/06 20:59:25 [Note]: 7026 0 04/30/06 20:59:26 [Note]: 7026 0 04/30/06 20:59:49 [Note]: FSRAW library version 1.7.1015 04/30/06 21:01:18 [Info]: Hidden file: c:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\csurs.exe 04/30/06 21:01:18 [Note]: 7002 32 04/30/06 21:01:18 [Note]: 7003 1 04/30/06 21:01:18 [Note]: 10002 1 04/30/06 21:01:19 [Info]: Hidden file: c:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\dmglf.exe 04/30/06 21:01:19 [Note]: 7002 32 04/30/06 21:01:19 [Note]: 7003 1 04/30/06 21:01:19 [Note]: 10002 1 04/30/06 21:01:47 [Info]: Hidden file: c:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\wbem\wbemtest.exe 04/30/06 21:01:47 [Note]: 10002 1
