Safe it to your desktop. Next open and check for updates.

Boot to safe mode (tap f8 while bios loads)

Then scan your system (this will take some time) after the scan is compelte allow it to fix what it has found. If there is something that it can not clean please let me know what it was.

Then reboot and post a new hijackthis log.
Ok I did everything you said and my C drive still isn't working. I never had this problem until I came onto these forums and fixed my popup problem. Could the antispyware/malware/wtc programs have deleted something off my computer that I needed? And the program I DLed said that it deleted everything that was infected.

Here is my log:

No all of these programs are safe and do not hurt the pc. The virus may be causing issues. Lets use windows sfc (system file checker) You'd need your XP CD to make this work. Click Start> Run> type sfc /scannow (Note that there is a space between sfc and /scannow) This will repair any bad windows files
That's another problem in itself because I don't know where my XP cd is. Well when I find it I'll follow your instructions then let you know how it went!
I'm back… Do you think you could look at my HijackThis log? I think I accidentally downloaded something onto my computer and now random little problems have been popping up! Also, when I push ctrl-alt-dlt, nothing happens. Can this issue also be resolved by doing what you had previously told me to do that required my XP cd? Thank you!

This is the nasty

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winupdates] C:\Program Files\winupdates\winupdates.exe /auto

Have hijackthis remove that line and then boot to safe mode and remove this folder if present

C:\Program Files\winupdates
Wow. I didn't understand any of that. How do I go about removing that file? Remember I'm completely computer illiterate. How do I keep getting these viruses and problems? I don't go on random websites or anything!
Sorry, scan with hijackthis. Then put a check beside this line O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winupdates] C:\Program Files\winupdates\winupdates.exe /auto Then choose the fix button and click on it. Next you will need to reboot to safe mode. >If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power >Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on. >Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again. >Ensure that the Safe mode option is selected. >Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode. Once in safe mode do this Click on C:\ drive then open the programs folder by clikcing on it, next look for a folder called "winupdates" put your cursor over this folder and right click once, you will then have some options open, choose the delete option and click on it. This should remove that focler. Next, open the recycle bin on the desk top, look like the garbage can, and empty everything in it. When you are finished with all troubleshooting, close all programs and restart the computer as you normally would. Then a new hijackthis log please.
When I restarted in safemode I couldn't find that folder. However, I did run the HijackThis and have it remove that thing you told me to remove. Here's the new log:

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. In my signature below is also a tutorial on how to harden IE, a good read and very helpful to stop these things in the future. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.
Since I deleted that thing off the HiJack This log my cd drive thing works again! Just wanted to let you know everything is working perfectly now all thanks to you!!
