I found this one hanging there lately and slowing everything down, this DrWatson32.exe, it seems to "activate" as soon as I open a video media player (VLC usualy) then a window appear telling me that windows explorer needs to shut down, and even once or twice, the same windows appeared following windows explorer one, telling me this time that DrWatson32 needs to close (that's how I got hinted about it), then crashes, to reappear as new, closing open files, but not the processes (I also briefly saw the application running in task manager, also the WIN32dll.exe before they disappeared mysteriously)...
I use Avast as my main protection, I have Ad-Aware/Watch SE plus that I also use quite regularly for scan and registry protection (although sometimes I'm not too sure what Ad-Watch wants me to accept/block, I'm not technical, more DIY kinda type), I use Anti-Spyware Blocker occasionaly and I recently got Spybot S&D and of course Hijackthis (I also have sophos thing, but something happened while I was instaling it, and my whole computer crashed, since, I don't think it is instaled, am not sure)
Ad-Watch is now asking me many things at every startup, and I notice one which, depending if I accept it or block it, will "infect" my computer (if I accept) and the whole story with the player, windows explorer crashing is back, here's the Ad-Watch log file about it:

Root: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Key: Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
Value: STREAMl(*)P0 [(*)=(I'm not so sure this is the exact letter, but the closest looking one I could find)]
Data: rundll32.exe streamci, StreamingDeviceSetup {D84D449B-62FB-4ebb-B969-5183ED3DFB51},GLOBAL,{71985F4A-1CA1-11d3-9CC8-00C04F7971E0},C:\WINDOWS\...
aaaand that's all I can read on this line, coz it's the end of my screen and Ad-Watch is silly like that and won't let you scroll or anything (I can try and provide a snapshot of the screen, but all the datas are basicaly here)
New Data

Then, since I got highjackthis, I made two scans, one when I accept the file, the other when I block it, just to be sure, here's the result:

when blocking the entry-

is just an update, now I disabled DrWatson32 by doing so: 1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit.exe in the Open box, and then click OK. 2. Locate and click the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug NOTE: Steps three and four are optional, but they necessary if you want to restore the default use of Dr. Watson. 3. Click the AeDebug key, and then click Export Registry File on the Registry menu. 4. Enter a name and location for the saved registry file, and then click Save. 5. Delete the AeDebug key. everything is running relatively smoothly now, the only thing is, still, when I run VLC, my system will crash, but this time a window's popinup telling me: The instruction at "0x03ed09c2" referenced memory at "0x04861000". The memory could not be "written". I don't know, is my computer going crazy or I do have something trying to start up as I open a media player ? When I press ok, SO crashes, comes back leaving applications, closing files and some toolbar agents (Ad-Watch, Anti-Spyware Blocker, Super Copier and others...) and evrything looks fine until next startup... Anybody got the slightest idea of what could be going on ??? P.S.: In the meantime, I'll run a spybot scan in safe mode, will let know if any serious outcome... Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome to the forum. :D

Step # 1

Please download and run CWShredder. Make sure that all browser windows are closed with the exception of Cwshredder and choose FIX.

http://www.majorgeek...7fd6b3ff02edc90

REBOOT

Step #2

Please download and run Spybot 1.4 & AdAware SE Then follow the instructions in the link below to run.

Spybot & Adaware Tutorial

REBOOT

Step # 3

Then do a virus scan here >>> Trend Micro

Step # 4

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

ok, step 1 and 2 went perfect, as for stage 3, it went pretty strange, slow (not having such a good connection), and avast kept finding trojans (I can get a list if needed) and firefox crashed twice while fixing/scanning with micro trend, poping up the same kind of error message window I usualy have before crashes therefore I couldn't finalize those scans

this is Ewido log:

The system still feels smoother if I hit "recover" from anti-spy blocker (or does it ?)
I am only skeptical because I couldn't run trend micro scan until the end
Thanks for your help nonetheless

P.S.: It actualy feels much better for the last 5 minutes I'm using my system... Anyways any extra advices if you find some time would be greatly appreciated
Thanks again !

Did you make this folder?

C:\Documents and Settings\Squatababs

If not boot to safe mode and delete it.

If you did then we need to delete the following instead.

C:\Documents and Settings\Squatababs\Shared\fruity loop 5 keygen.rar <<<folder

Then a new kapersky scan please.

Squatababs is my computer name as for this other file, I erased it, but it seems to me it might be a different problem as I might know where this one was from, and if it's what I think, it came after I started to have problems, through a p2p program, I thought I killed it all, but wasn't sure... nonetheless, computer still not correctly responding... NEXT

Download Blacklight Beta from here:
http://www.f-secure....light/try.shtml
Hit I accept. It will take you to download page.
Download blbeta.exe and save it to the Desktop.
Once saved... double click blbeta.exe to install the program.
Click accept agreement and Click scan
This app too may fire off a warning from antivirus. Let the driver load.
Wait for it to finish.
If it displays any items...don't do anything with them yet. Just hit exit (close)

Computer seems to run ok so far, but takes time to start up, although with all this mess, it might just figure...
Let me know if you think there's anything wrong and how to fix if needed...

Thanks a lot for your time and your help still, it's real appreciated !

Download MicroWorld virus scan here >>> Micro World http://www.mwti.net/...e_utilities.asp

To run the virus scan make sure you click the following

memory, registry, startup folders, system folders, services, drive (all drives will be added) then click on scan clean. When the scan is complete hilight all the files in the LOWER box. Then ctrl + c and paste them into the thread ctrl + v.

I warn you the scan will take a long time to run and will not fix anything just identifies bad files.
