Hello Tim and welcome to TomCoyote forum. If you still need help follow these directions.

1) Assure me you know what these are: M:\MFin\mfin.exe, M:\MPos\M_Pos.exe

2) Please turn off Microsoft AntiSpyware and CounterSpy, make sure you are offline when you do this, then enable your protection when you are finished. You will also want to look at this information when we ae finished: http://russelltexas....re/defender.htm

Thanks to Atribune and any others who helped with this fix

3) Please download VundoFix v4.2.35 to the Desktop:
http://www.atribune....tent/view/24/2/
* Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it
* Put a check next to Run VundoFix as a task
* You will receive a message saying VundoFix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK
* When VundoFix re-opens, click: Scan for Vundo
* Once it's done scanning, click: Remove Vundo
* A prompt asking if you want to remove the files appears, click: Yes
* Once you click yes, the Desktop goes blank as it starts removing Vundo.
* When completed, a prompt to shutdown the computer appears, click OK
* Turn the computer back on.

In this same thread post the C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log, let me know if that fixes the problem.

Thanks...pskelley

Hi pskelly and thanks. Yes I do still need assistance and would be very grateful for your help.

I can see you guys are very busy and because I could see similarities with other posts had already done a Vundofix and have also loaded SP2 and Defender and OneCare. I don't get popups any more but my PC takes about 25 minutes to boot.

Appreciate your help

Regards

Tim

G'day Tim, Looks like VundoFix killed another trojan  The HJT log looks clean except for this clutter:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5C8B2A36-3DB1-42A4-A3CB-D426709BBFEB} - (no file
PCTools Spyware Doctor
O16 - DPF: {2FB42B58-A74B-49B3-A6EA-53F0FB8483D2} (AdminimizerX.Editor) - http://www.adminimiz...dminimizerX.CAB seems to be useless, click the link: http://www.adminimizer.com <<< here

You can use HJT to remove those if you like, they are not malware. Since the log is clean, here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
http://service1.syma...src=sec_doc_nam

and have also loaded SP2 and Defender and OneCare

Let's talk about this for a few minutes. Both of these items are resource heavy and are going to slow you down. OneCare, I am not suggesting myself, I don't use it and there is not a lot of positive feedback. I wish Microsoft would spend some time making a safe Operating System and a safe browser, we would not be here today. I will also say it is good that your log is clean, if you were still infected, chances are you would have been removing SP2 until you were totally clean. There are also other things that needed to be done to prepare for that download, here are Microsoft's suggestions:
http://www.microsoft...whattoknow.mspx I also want to say I understand around 60% of the WindowsXP users have never downloaded SP2 because it is known to slow you considerably. Have said this, you will need to maximize all other areas. Here are some good suggestions to help you with this:

A good cleaning may help, I suggest this one if you have none: Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Review the instructions http://www.ccleaner.com/help/tour1.asp
Run CCleaner, Windows & Applications when you run the registry cleaner (Issues) you will be prompted to backup before you can remove stuff, make sure you do.

And for your information, asking Google how to "speed up boot times" returns this:

Safe surfing...Phil :wavey:
