Peter Soby Jr.'s blog from today, hosted by HuffingtonPost.com, explains the charges faced by Stephen Heller for exposing Diebold's fraudulent behavior. He asks for us to write to the LADA asking that Heller not be charged, since he is a whistleblower. The following letter was posted by kennyg at HuffingtonPost.com as an example, in hopes of inspiring others to write. The email address for LADA is: lada@co.la.ca.us .

The FAX # is (213) 974-1484 (FAX'es is mo' better! <g> ).

If you prefer to write your own letter, there are plenty of details in Soby's blog.

District Attorney's Office
County of Los Angeles
210 West Temple Street, Suite 18000
Los Angeles, CA 90012-3210

February 27th, 2006

To Whom It May Concern,

I was astounded and dismayed to learn that the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office intends to prosecute Mr. Stephen Heller, who blew the whistle on Diebold for their fraudulent practices and disenfranchisement of thousands of voters. I can only hope that this is misinformation, or else I fear we have truly stepped through the looking glass. According to then California Secretary of State Kevin Shelley, the company's conduct was "reprehensible" and he further said "their performance, their behavior, is despicable."

How is it possible, then, that a patriot who exposes to the light of day a company whose CRIMINAL and FRAUDULENT behavior threatens the very fabric of the democratic process, could be charged with being guilty of felonious behavior? The fact that I am not a resident of California, should serve to underscore the seriousness with which most Americans view the actions of Diebold, and that some of us are willing to speak out from across our nation. Why wouldn't we? A threat against democracy anywhere in the United States Of America, is a threat to it everywhere. And there can be no mistake, that the democratic process is threatened, by any action that further leads the American people to distrust the electoral process. For that reason, I write to respectfully implore the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office to drop its' prosecution of Mr. Heller for the obvious fact that it is just plain wrong. This is especially so, in light of the fact that the executives of Diebold escaped without being prosecuted and they are the true criminals in this case.

Respectfully,
A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government."

Copy and paste that whole initial post "letter" section into your email program - and/or print it out for FAXING and copy the whole post and
forward it to everyone in your addressbook and post it on forums where you don't already see it covered! Pete
