Another thing about this computer that seems unusual. There are over 579,000 files on it, with about 534,000+ on C: and the rest on the partition D:.

I resolved the Norton Auto Protect problem. I re-ran ewido and stinger and found nothing, but stinger shows it scanned over 1 million files. ????

Download TheKillbox from here http://www.downloads...org/KillBox.zip Save to your Desktop and double click it to open it up. In the 'Enter Full Path and Filename to Delete' box, copy and paste these entries one by one, clicking 'Find and Kill This File' after each one:

Save it to your desktop. Open CCleaner and click on "run cleaner" at the bottom right.

Then reboot and a new hijackthis log please. How is it after the reboot?

Here is the HT log. It seems to run ok with the exception of freezing up when running Ad-aware and fixVundo from Symantec. It occurs with both programs at C:\Windows\Installer\C6A7AF-4EB1-4AAE-8318-1AB393C64F88\partymode.exe. The message that goes with it indicates a problem with a network connection, the disk where the file is stored or the storage drivers installed.

You have been great and I appreciate your help. In your reply, please address the number of files on this computer. Also, given that I only had 4 hours of sleep last night, I cannot make it until 1am again. Could you tell me about things I could do tomorrw AM when you are not available or could you bring someone else in to assist me tomorrow so I don't have to wait until 7pm. Again, I really appreciate all you have done to help me. Lots of progress has been made. Thanks.

Download Regseeker from the link below. Save it to your destop. Open Regseeker and click on clean registry, next click ok. Once the scan is complete make sure the make backups is checked and then select all and delete it.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

• Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
• Click the Scan for Vundo button.
• Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
• You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
• Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
• When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
• Turn your computer back on.
• Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

It still freezes in the same place, same file in Ad Aware. I would just like to delete the file. It is probably never used.

First, enable the viewing of Hidden Files and Folders as follows:
-At your Desktop, go to Start>My Computer
-Select the Tools menu and then Folder Options
-After the new window appears select the View tab
-Select: Display the contents of system folders
-Under the Hidden files and folders section select: Show hidden files and folders
-Remove the checkmark from Hide file extensions for known file types
-Remove the checkmark from Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
-Press the Apply button
Click OK

Please download Vx2 Finder and safe it to its own folder. http://downloads.sub...Finder(126).exe
Run VX2Finder(126).exe
Select: Click to Find VX2.Betterinternet
When the scan is done, select the Make Log
Copy the log and post it.

Open the folder and double click on Find.bat (File with a gear symbol)
Ignore any File not found messages
It runs for a minute, and produces a log

I returned this computer to my friend. Decided that I would let her use it the way it was. I could not see any trouble with it other then AdAdware freezing up. You did not answer my previous questions about the number of files or getting help during the day and I just could not continue working all night when I had already worked all day. I will keep a record of your last email in case I have further problems with the computer. Again, thanks for your help.

Sorry about not being straight on those answers but was concentrating on fixing the system. 1) Assistance during the day. As you can see there are many posts and people looking for assistance. The helpers are spread very thin and once one takes on a thread they own it. This stops confusion and potential double assistance. Most helpers, myself included, have as many as 100 threads on the go in this forum alone. Many of use help in other fourms across the internet so everyone is spread thin. 2) You would be amazed how many files it actually takes to run a system. Some programs or games have 100 of 1000's of files to operate. My kids have zoo tycoon on there system and talk about a bloated program. I hate it everytime I have to scan there system as it can take hours because of games like that.
