well i recently downloaded a bunch of hard to remove spyware and I managed to remove most of it using ewindo, ad-aware, microsoft antispyware and spybot search and destroy all in safe mode (and not in safe mode) but no matter what I do I can't get rid of one program called command center (the files are called H_LOCAL_KEY files also it says it can't be deleted cause its in use in the memory). I searched the forums for a similar problem and found one but the solution didn't work for me. I tried to be as pro-active as possible but I conceed defeat :( I need help. Here is my hijack this log that I did today (not in safe mode but right after I logged onto windows). Thanks a lot guys.

Hello jhodge3, welcome to the TC Forum.

You have the latest version of VX2. Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads....org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

if you receive, while running option #1, an error similar like: ''C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. choose close to terminate the application.."...then please use option 5 or the web page link in the l2mfix folder to solve this error condition. do not run the fix portion without fixing this first.

The forum is run by volunteers who donate their time and expertise.

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!
If after the reboot the desktop icons dont dissappear or the log does not pop up then in the l2mfix folder double click the second.bat file to continue with the fix.

Important: Do this before any fix.

Please put your HijackThis in it's own folder, (I create a new folder in C:\ named HJT).
You can do a Right Click on any open area on the desktop, New> Folder, then rename the folder HJT.

Go to where your HijackThis is and Right Click on HijackThis.exe, select Cut, then open the new folder you just created (HJT) Right Click in the folder and select paste.

The reason we do this is Hijackthis creates backup files just in case you'd need to restore one and we'll be cleaning out the temp files.

After the above:

I suggest you do this:

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O16 - DPF: {03F998B2-0E00-11D3-A498-00104B6EB52E} - https://components.v...oducts/vmp.html

O20 - Winlogon Notify: Applets - C:\WINDOWS\system32\anmeter.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: Hints - C:\WINDOWS\system32\oresvr32.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: Nls - C:\WINDOWS\system32\iFspolcy.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: OfficeUpdate - C:\WINDOWS\system32\wssdmoe.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: ShellScrap - C:\WINDOWS\system32\kcdbe.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: SideBySide - C:\WINDOWS\system32\disrslvr.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: SMDEn - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddutil.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: ThemeManager - C:\WINDOWS\system32\piofmap.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: Uninstall - C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuavusd.dll (file missing)

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Delete these Files if listed:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\anmeter.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\oresvr32.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\iFspolcy.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wssdmoe.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\kcdbe.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\disrslvr.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddutil.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\piofmap.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuavusd.dll

1. Open My Computer
2. Right click on your hard drive that you wish to clean (C drive, for example)
3. In the context menu that opens, select properties
4. Under the general tab you should select Disk Cleanup
5. Windows will scan your drive which will take a few seconds/minutes
6. A box will display the various files you can remove.
Check all boxes except compress old files (If listed)
7. Click OK and windows will comply.

Restart your computer.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

The forum is run by volunteers who donate their time and expertise.

Here is the new log after performing the deletions your suggested. My computer performance is generall slower (programs starting, switiching windows etc.) I also will randomly get pop ups that ewindo blocks or the pop up blocker included in explorer will block...often times this will happen without even explorer being started. Also no matter how many times I run any number of spyware removers I can't get rid of these command center H_LOCAL_KEYS (or something like that). I included the spyware destroyer log at the end of the Hijack this log. Thanks again for all your help.

I suggest you do this:

Go to Start > Run and type in Services.msc then click OK

Click the Extended tab.

Scroll down until you find SMX regulator (Windows SMX)

Click once on the service to highlight it.

Click Stop

Right-Click on the service.

Click on 'Properties'

Select the 'General' tab

Click the Arrow-down tab on the right-hand side on the 'Start-up Type' box

From the drop-down menu, click on 'Disabled'

Click the 'Apply' tab, then click 'OK'

The service is now stopped and disabled.

use Add/Remove Programs and remove if listed:
VCClient

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [CU2] C:\Program Files\Common Files\VCClient\VCMain.exe

O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {85d1f590-48f4-11d9-9669-0800200c9a66} - %windir%\bdoscandel.exe (file missing)

O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Uninstall BitDefender Online Scanner v8 - {85d1f590-48f4-11d9-9669-0800200c9a66} - %windir%\bdoscandel.exe (file missing)

O16 - DPF: {03F998B2-0E00-11D3-A498-00104B6EB52E} - https://components.v...oducts/vmp.html

O23 - Service: SMX regulator (Windows SMX) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\winsmx.exe (file missing)

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Delete these Files if listed:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VCClient\VCMain.exe
C:\WINDOWS\winsmx.exe
C:\WINDOWS\bdoscandel.exe

Please download System Security Suite. Extract it from the zip file into a folder.
