Go here and run this scan. Let me know what it finds.
Microsoft - Malicious Software Removal Tool
http://www.microsoft...ve/default.mspx

Download this one and let me know if it finds anything.
RootkitRevealer
http://www.sysintern...itRevealer.html

When it's done, go to file->save
save the logfile to the desktop, and then past the contents here.

Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool Found nothing. AS for the rootkit I cannot get to the site. As far as my computer is concerned the site does not exist. Would it be possible to download the program on my desktop and then go from a jump drive?

Looks like that sites is down

Try this one:

Download and Save blacklight to your desktop.
F-Secure Blacklight: http://www.f-secure....light/try.shtml
Double-click blbeta.exe then accept the agreement.
click > scan then > next,
You'll see a list of all items found.
Don't choose for rename yet! I want to see the log first, because legit items can also be present there...
There must be also a log on your desktop with the name fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (the xxxxxxx stand for numbers)
Post the contents of the log in your next reply together with a new hijackthislog.

C:\Program Files\PeerGuardian2\pg2.exe

Filename Description
PeerGuardian U pg2.exe PeerGuardian is an IP blocker for Windows. Used to protect privacy on P2P networks by blocking IP addresses specified in blocklists. Features support for multiple lists, a list editor, automatic blocklist updates, and blocking all of IPv4 (TCP, UDP, ICMP, etc).

Open C:\Program Files\PeerGuardian2\pg2.exe <--rename this file to pg2.old.

Reboot and see if that helps.

I can't remember if we did this yet or not

Good Job

Log looks good :D

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Click Start> My Computer, select the Tools menu and then Folder Options, after the new window appears select the View tab…]
This time select the: Restore Defaults
Select: Apply, and click OK

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Safe Surfing. :D

I would also suggest you read this:
