Hello, I need help with removing constant winfixer pop-ups. I've tried to get rid of it myself multiple times with no success. Tried many different sites and forums... but I can't find any of the virus files they specify. My antivirus programs don't pick up anything. If you can help me out, I would really appreciate it. Here's my log:

After going throught few other topics on this forum, I've istalled and ran Spybot S&D and ewido programs. Spybot found nothing, ewido keeps finding "C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtutu.dll" but can't seem to delete it... even after multiple scans. It can't be deleted manualy either. How do I get rid of it?

Here's my log after Spybot S&D, ewido and Ad-Aware SE scans:

Ran Spybot S&D again after ewido and it found alot of problems. It think it did the job, no more popups for now, hope it'll stay that way. But I still have a question, does the "C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtutu.dll" file need still be deleted?

Good Job

Log looks good :D  How is it running any issues?

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Click Start> My Computer, select the Tools menu and then Folder Options, after the new window appears select the View tab…]
This time select the: Restore Defaults
Select: Apply, and click OK

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Safe Surfing. :D

I would also suggest you read this:
So how did I get infected in the first place?

Quick question... better yet, your opinion. I have Norton Antivirus installed. In your opinion is it any good or should I just dump it and go with the free one's you've recommended? Thanks, Jheka

Thanks,

IMO, if your Norton's isn't paid for, I'd go with the free one. Norton's is a resource hog.

Great job

You're more then welcome.

Peace be with you :wavey:
