Well lets try this in SAFE Mode.


Restart your computer in Safe Mode.

Press F8 after the Power-On Self Test (POST) is done. If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, try restarting and then pressing F8 several times after the POST screen.
Choose the Safe Mode option from the Windows Advanced Options Menu then press Enter.

Close all windows and browsers.
Open HijackThis

Click on Open Misc Tools
Click on Delete a File On Reboot
Click once on the file below to select it:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\browsela.dll

Click on the Back button to exit Process Manager

Now, back at the main screen of HijackThis, proceed to Scan.
and put a check by these.


O20 - Winlogon Notify: browsela - C:\WINDOWS\system32\browsela.dll
b]
Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click [b]"Fix checked"

Empty Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Download win32delfkil.exe.
Save it on your desktop.

Double click on win32delfkil.exe and install it. This creates a new folder on your desktop: win32delfkil.

Close all windows, open the win32delfkil folder and double click on fix.bat.
The computer will reboot automatically. If not please restart manually
Post the contents of the logfile c\windelf.txt, along with a new hijackhislog.

This is probably really stupid, but I don't have a Hijackthis icon on my desktop in safe mode. What have I done wrong and how do I get a desktop icon for Hijackthis. Also, I downloaded the delfkil file previously and I believe I picked up another downloader virus doing so. Please check that download and make sure it is appropriate and let me know before I do this.

It is a safe download, soem anti virus programs may not like it but it is safe. After running that tool reboot to normal mode and then scan with hijackthis and post the other log. Sorry Ld justed wanted to assure him that the download is safe

I saw this fix in another post previously and tried to download but the instructions were in another language (German I think). I proceeded to try to download by clicking on what resembled the word install. The next instruction was totally in German and I backed out of the installation. There was nothing that looked like fix.bat. Now I have a folder on my desktop that says "win32delfkil". What should I do at this point? Also, I am getting messages on my screen in German that appear briefly and then go away. Now Ewido is alerting me that the file browsela.dll is infected with the Downloader.Delf.aeo. Help!!!

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Click Start> My Computer, select the Tools menu and then Folder Options, after the new window appears select the View tab…]
This time select the: Restore Defaults
Select: Apply, and click OK




If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

I have a question about Spybot. When an alert comes on the screen the bottom of the message seems to be cut off and does not allow options. What is this about? Do I have a bad download or something? One last thing. When I followed that last set of instructions and turned my computer off there was a screen saying a program was not finished. It was not on the screen very long but I think the name was "Shell Con Hidden Window" or something like that. I am paranoid now and am suspicious of everything. Is this something bad?
