Yesterday I saved 2 pages from the Softpedia website, later the ewido anti-malware online scanner detected 2 instances of Spyware.Chitika

I sent an e-mail message to Softpedia which read the same as my OP. I have just received the following reply:

I really think that the scanning tools is more than paranoic finding spyware in a java script used to display ads.

There is no spyware/adware in that script.
