my apologies for not giving any details....my problem is straightforward...i cannt acces the internet in any way.... I cannot update software and internet explorer has a long URL in place of what was once www.yahoo.com....I hope this was helpful

You need to move Hijackthis instructions here.

Download System Security Suite v1.04 here
Tutorial here.

Download Pocket Killbox and unzip it; save it to your Desktop. We may need it later.

Go to add and remove programs and remove,
C:\Program Files\CxtPls
C:\Program Files\Media Gateway
C:\Program Files\SurfAccuracy

Reboot in safe mode. Close all Browser and Program Windows.
Have HijackThis fix the following. Do this by checking the box beside each and then clicking on Fix checked.

You may need to set you computer to show hidden files. Click here for Instructions.
Then click start>my computer>local disk
(then follow the path) or Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:
Delete the following file(s) listed.


C:\WINDOWS\System32\winupdtl.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\h5uaj0ff.exe


Delete the folder(s) listed
C:\Program Files\CxtPls
C:\Program Files\Media Gateway
C:\Program Files\SurfAccuracy
If you were unable to find any of the files then please follow these additional instructions:
Run Pocket Killbox, and click the radio button that says Delete a file on reboot.
Paste the full path of file to delete box and click the red circle with a white cross in it.
The program will ask you if you want to reboot answer Yes let the system reboot.
Here are Instructions for deleting multiple files with Pocket Killbox. If you were not able to find them.

Reboot then Run 3S under “Items To Clear” tab place a checkmark in all of them but the last one on the left.
Reboot and Rescan with spybot and ad-aware. Reboot run HJT and post a new log here.
Also please describe how your computer behaves now.

thanks eagle....i checked what needed checked and fixed what needed to be fixed and voila....the thing works and can surf the net like it used to....just in time for Xmas...it's my dads computer and he will be most pleased. Take care
