Hello McBlonde, Welcome to the forum.

This is what I suggest you do.

Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.

Go here and run at least one of the online scans, allow them to delete whatever they find:

TrendMicro HouseCall
eTrust AntiVirus Web Scanner
Panda ActiveScan
Note any thing that can't be fixed
Reboot when done.

Next:

Even if you've already run these, make SURE they're up-to-date and run per instructions.

Make sure you have the up-to-date versions of Spybot V 1.4 and Ad-aware SE Build 1.06 . All are free and available below.

Download Spybot, install and update. Then download Ad-aware, install, and update.

Spybot:

Install the program and launch it.

Go to Start > Programs >Spybot > Search & Destroy and choose Spybot S&D

Close ALL windows except Spybot S&D
Click the button to "Search for Updates" and download and install the Updates.
Next click the button "Check for Problems"
When Spybot is complete, it will be showing "RED" (RED) entries "BLACK" entries and "GREEN" (GREEN) entries in the window
Put a check mark beside the RED (RED) entries ONLY.
Choose "Fix Selected Problems" and allow Spybot to fix the RED (RED) entries.

Ad-Aware FULL SCAN:

Install the program and launch it.

1. Launch Ad-Aware SE and run the WebUpdate feature. (Click on the Globe icon > Click connect > Click OK > Click Finish.)
2. Set up the Configurations as follows:
– Click the Gear wheel at the top of the Ad-Aware window
– Click General > Safety & Settings: Check (Green) all three.
– Click Tweak > Cleaning Engine > UNcheck "Always try to unload modules before deletion".
3. Click "Proceed"
4. Click "Scan Now"
5. Deselect "Search for negligible risk entries" as negligible risk entries (MRU's) are not considered to be a threat.
6. Select "Search for low-risk threats"
7. Run the scanner using the Full Scan (Perform full system scan) mode.
8. When the scan has completed, select Next.
9. In the Scanning Results window, select the "Scan Summary" tab.
10. Check the box next to each "target family" you wish to remove.
11. Click next > Click OK.

Empty Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Hi! Thanks for the help……I did everything you said to do in your reply to me…..and now here is my "copy/paste" of the new log file. You said post it in "this thread"… so I hope this is the correct one…..As far as my computer behavior…….I got hacked with keyloggers that got into my registry and a worm got in through my AIM….. I posted the original Hijack this because even as I cleaned up my computer……I would still have incidences of, I don't know quite how to describe it, but like when I would close something like a Hijackthis window…..I white box the same size would be left in it's place……Hope that makes sense…. Well, here is my new Hijackthis scan…What do you think? By the way, thanks SO much…McBlonde

Reboot and Rescan with HJT and post a new log here.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Thanks again so much for all your help……Feeling secure again after an attack is very difficult and you have been a big help! I noticed that you list CWShredder and Spyware Blaster with your signature and wondered if I also need to get those?

On my computer now I have The Cleaner which was open source and recommended and Spyware Doctor and Dyna Comm Iscan which were both trials…….Should I keep the Cleaner and removed Spyware Doctor and Dyna Com Iscan and the files that they quaranteened?

When I was removing the programs you told me to after update Sun Java, I also noticed something called My Way Search Assisstant which I tried to remove, but couldn't and I have AOL Dialer…is that normal even with a DSL connection? Thanks again for the assistance! :wavey:

When I was removing the programs you told me to after update Sun Java, I also noticed something called My Way Search Assisstant which I tried to remove, but couldn't and I have AOL Dialer…is that normal even with a DSL connection?

Are you still using AOL to launch the internet?

My Way Search Assisstant

You can try removing it in Safe Mode.

Restart your computer in Safe Mode.

Press F8 after the Power-On Self Test (POST) is done. If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, try restarting and then pressing F8 several times after the POST screen.
Choose the Safe Mode option from the Windows Advanced Options Menu then press Enter.
Ok, done as you suggested…….the trial versions are removed…… I kept the Cleaner.

As far as the AOL Dialer, I do not use AOL to launch the internet (I have BellSouth DSL)

Finally, even in Safe Mode I was still unable to remove My Way Search Assistant (the message says the specific module can't be found and and the lists the Publisher as My Way http://help.myway.com/) I don't even know if this is a problem program, just knew I can't remove……

Hopefully, my Task Manager will stop hitting 100% CPU now!!

Anything else you want me to do?

Thank you so much!! :wavey:
My gosh…I just realized I forgot to mention something that may be important…….since I was attacked sometimes when I click the start button, I have 2 Word icons……not always but many times….How is that possible? And, I realized that I forgot to post my latest Hijackthis log…..(That's why they call me McBlonde)

My Way Search Assistant

Don't worry about it, it won't hurt anything.

I have 2 Word icons……not always but many times….

I'll assume you're talking about seeing them on the Right side? I don't really know why it does that either. You can open like NotePad a couple times and it'll show those also. My guess is it shows the resent programs you had open.

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AOLDialer] C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\ACS\AOLDial.exe

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Empty Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Hi..

No, not on the right side.on the left……..When I turn my computer on and it boots up, if I click the START button, the first thing I see, of course, is the All Programs……then above that are different Programs with their icons such as Internet Explorer, Spy-bot, Adware, Word, AIM, etc. That is where it shows 2 programs of Word…….It never happened prior to my being hacked….so I don't know (if any) the significance of it…. Like I said, it doesn't happen each time I turn my computer on or everytime I reboot……just another one of those things that make me go hmmmm since the hacker got me…… Here is the logfile for you…….Thank you!

You can look for a file named Normal.dot and delete it. It will be re-created by word next time you open Word. That's the only word file I've ever know to get infected.

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Safe Surfing. :D
Hi….I sent an email to the forum administrators and asked them to forward it to you (I didn't know the correct procedure) Were you able to get a copy of the email? Thanks

I'm sure they will send a copy to me.
I hope it was a nice email :D

LOL….Absolutely……The email has more detail than I wanted to post regarding the hacker and why my Word program may have been infected……..If you don't get the email, please let me know how I can send it……..and of course Admin has my email…..

There is still a possible problem…. When I type I am having at moments a 5 to 7 second delay…don't know what's up with that…Hope it's not another keylogger…..Cause that just makes me go :rant2:

Thanks for all your help LDTate!
I haven't received anything yet  You can click on my name and send it to me yourself or use PM  Great job  You're more then welcome. Glad we were able to help Peace be with you :wavey:
