Here is my log. I have a new Dell computer (2g ram, 2-250G Hard drives. Running slower than my old Gateway. Also, since this problem started (November 13), I cannot access my external hard drive which I use for extra backup. Any help very much appreciated.

I see that you are running msconfig in /auto mode which means that you may have selectively removed some items in the past from the startup procedure. This can be bad if they are malware, so we would like you to reenable those startup entries by doing the following: Please click on start, then run, and type msconfig and then press enter. When the window opens click on the startup tab and make sure there are checkmarks in every entry. Then press ok until you are out of the program. If it asks to reboot, do not reboot. Now please create a new Hijackthis Log and post it as a reply.
Here is the new log:

    • DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
    • If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop.
Now close ewido security suite.
**(Ewido for example has been flagging parts of AVG Anti-Virus, pcAnywhere and the game "Risk")

Post the report here with another hijackthis log please.
Here are the results from the ewido scan and the new hijackthis log. Sorry it took a while, I could not get to my computer to do this until this morning. Also, is it okay to have all the programs running in startup? I thought that caused the computer to run slow. Thanks for your help. Debbie

Spybot S&D lets you kill the 04's, the startups. Start Spybot click mode at the top left,
make sure that advanced mode is checked. Then click on tools on the lower left.
Then system startup, to the right is a double arrow bar click it to expand.
Now clicking on a value you will get a description of the command line. Removing the green
check mark will stop the startup, should you decide that you need or want it back just
replace the check mark. Restarting your PC will complete the change.
Remove the check marks from the ones listed below.

Looks good, One of the best features of Windows XP is the System Restore option,
however if a virus infects a computer with this operating system the virus can be backed up
in the System Restore folder. Therefore, clearing the restore points is necessary after a virus removal.

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account
which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because
you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
