I would greatly appreciate a review of my HJT log. I've already used Spysweeper, Ad-Aware, SpyBot. MS AntiSpyware, Trojan Hunter and have installed Spyware Guard and Spyware Blaster. I'm reluctant to delve into HJT on my own. Thank you in advance.

Hello and welcome to TomCoyote forum. I appreciate your zeal at trying to do it yourself, but we really need to see the results of specialized tools like SpySweeper and TrojanHunter. We also need to view the log before they are run. Oh well, water over the dam and all that. I will remove what I see with HJT, but first you need a folder. Return to C:\Program Files\ and RIGHT click a blank spot then make a new folder called HJT. Move the HJT.exe and the log that should be there into that folder. Backups for safety will also store there. Please do this before you proceed.

Powerful spyware programs like you are running will stop the HJT fix, be offline when this is done and shutdown those programs: Microsoft AntiSpyware, Spy Sweeper and SpywareGuard. Unless you use this Dell re-direction to advertising stuff, I suggest you remove it also: http://www.dell4me.com/myway

This is what I suggest:

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.dell4me.com/myway
(if you use this toolbar you can leave it)
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://g.msn.com/0SE...S01?FORM=TOOLBR
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.dell4me.com/myway
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: geebc - C:\WINDOWS\system32\geebc.dll (file missing)

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

Enable hidden files&folders..reverse the process when finished.
http://www.xtra.co.n...1916458,00.html

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\Windows\Prefetch\ >>> delete everything in this folder (NOT THE FOLDER)
Prefetch info: http://www.windowsne...refetch-XP.html

Turn your security programs on before going online.

Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Review the instructions http://www.ccleaner.com/help/tour1.asp Run CCleaner, when you run the registry cleaner (Issues) you will be prompted to backup before you can remove stuff, make sure you do. Then restart the computer and post a new HJT log in this same thread along with any feedback you have.

Thanks...pskelley

Firstly, thank you for your help I truly appreciate it. The service that you folks provide; for free; is invaluable given the conditions on the 'Net'. I will be making a donation to help keep this site up and running, keep up the good fight. First let me say your HJT log appears clean of malware :) Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:

If you wish to save a few resources, use http://netsquirrel.com/msconfig/ and this information:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DVDSentry] C:\WINDOWS\System32\DSentry.exe
http://castlecops.co...plist-1037.html

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Motive SmartBridge] C:\PROGRA~1\VERIZO~1\SUPPOR~1\SMARTB~1\MotiveSB.exe
http://castlecops.co...plist-5774.html

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Works Update Detection] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Works Shared\WkUFind.exe
http://castlecops.co...plist-4512.html

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [igfxtray] C:\WINDOWS\system32\igfxtray.exe
http://castlecops.co...plist-1568.html

O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE
http://support.micro...om/?kbid=210875

and last, we are all volunteers but I am sure Tom can find a good use for any donations.

Thanks...pskelley
