Hi Bradthehorn;
You might want to copy and paste this text into a Notepad file, to place on your desktop and read as you work.

Sometimes this infestation is difficult to tell from a couple of others. Lets do the following and see what it turns up, if anything.

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this topic.
Please use the Post Reply feature, so I will be notified.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

if you receive, while running option #1, an error similar like: ''C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. choose close to terminate the application.."…then please use option 5 or the web page link in the l2mfix folder to solve this error condition. do not run the fix portion without fixing this first.
I have tried Trend Micro, Spyware Doctor, Norton, and others. Spyware gets rid of it for a few, but it reloads. I need to get this off my computer. Can someone please help. I am not computer genius, but I can usually figure stuff out with a little direction and help. Thanks in advance.
I was looking at some other threads and I downloaded VX2 and here is my l2mfix option 1 log. Hello Brad and welcome to TomCoyote forum. Sorry about the wait but I see you finally found the right place to post. We just have two more problems.

1) You are running HJT.exe from a .zip file in a Temporary Directory. This is unsafe as we will have no backups. That is why you received this message when you used HJT: http://russelltexas.com/malware/images/unsafefolder.gif
I would prefer you place it here: C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe. If you need additional information use the information in the following link: http://russelltexas.com/malware/createhjtfolder.htm

2) You are cutting off the first four lines of the HJT log. Look at other logs if you need to. This information is needed by us.

Move HJT to a permanent folder, post a complete log and I will respond as soon as possible after that.

Thanks…pskelley

Ok Brad, thanks for the new log positioned properly. I think I have all of your posts together, do not start any new topics, continue to use this thread. You created a bit of confusion moving around and wasted the time of busy people. Please follow the directions and in the exact order I have posted them, thanks.

1) Download, update, configure and run these two programs: http://tomcoyote.org/aawsb.php
The newest version of Ad-aware is 1.06 and Spybot 1.04. Even if you have these programs, use the link to get the newest version, update and configure them as in the link. Run Spybot first, reboot then run Ad-aware. Both programs back up what they remove so delete anything the programs say should be removed.

2) Open Add Remove programs in the Control Panel. Look for AdwareAlert and uninstall it if it is there. This is a rouge spyware product, see this information:
http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm

3) Turn off Spyware Doctor until your are finished with HJT. It may block the fix we muyst make.

4) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.dell4me.com/myway
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.dell4me.com/myway

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AdwareAlert] C:\Program Files\AdwareAlert\adwarealert.Exe -boot

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

5) Enable hidden files&folders..reverse the process when finished.
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\Program Files\AdwareAlert\ >>> FOLDER

C:\Windows\Prefetch\ >>> delete everything in this folder (NOT THE FOLDER)
Prefetch info: http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_…refetch-XP.html

6) Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Review the instructions http://www.ccleaner.com/help/tour1.asp Run CCleaner, when you run the registry cleaner (Issues) you will be prompted to backup before you can remove stuff, make sure you do. Then restart the computer and post a new HJT log in this same thread along with any feedback you have. Tell me how the comuter is running now.

Thanks…pskelley

pskelley,

Thanks for your help. I am sorry about wasting anyones time. It was not my intention to double post, but I was originally trying to fix winfixer and I got rid of it. I thought my morwill problems were gone too, but they came back and it really got bad. Chaulk that up to lack of computer knowledge. I am learning here on the fly. I think I am doing good now. I am able to use google and searching is fixed. Thanks so much again. I am very thankful for your help.

Here is my new HJT log
