Hi Alice,

One of our experts should be along soon to examine your log and suggest a remedy. As I'm still a trainee, I'll defer to them for a diagnosis. I will suggest, however, that you need some malware protection. For that, one of the best programs available today is Spybot-Search&Destroy. The price is right, too- it's FREE. Here's a link to it, and instructions on its use.

http://download.com.com/3000-8022-10194058.html?tag=lst-0-2

1.Download Spybot: Search And Destroy, and install it in a permanent folder (such as C:\Spybot)

2. Next, 'Search for Updates' as the definitions may not be up-to-date. Install any updates found.

3. Close your browser, and ALL windows except the one Spybot is running in.

4. Click the "Check for Problems" button; when it finishes, put a check by ONLY the items shown in RED.

5. Click 'Fix Selected Problems' and fix ONLY the items shown in RED.

6. REBOOT to finish the removal process.

7. SCAN with HijackThis again, and post a fresh log so we can see what may still need fixing.
You have a CWS infection. Could you click here to download CWShredder by Merijn Bellekom and run it, hit 'fix' as opposed to 'scan only'.

CWS installs via the byte verifier exploit in MS JavaVM, so just surfing a page with an infected applet can install it with no user participation. Once you’ve run the above, it is vitally important that you go here, click Scan for updates in the main frame, and download and install all CRITICAL updates recommended.

Rescan with HJT and post a new log here so that any remnants can be removed manually.
trying to download it but not having any luck. may try to download later but as soon as i can will do what u said. and post new report. Alice
ok updateed shreader and ran it. i also restartted. the new log is below. the way im infected is it open on about:blank and opens web page Search for…

OK, let's nail it manually. Reboot into safe mode by tapping F8 after the BIOS has loaded. Make sure that you have no browser windows open as this could prevent the fix from working properly. Open HijackThis, scan and when complete, remove the following entries by checking the box to the left and clicking 'fixed checked':

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\ebmoka.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)

Find and delete the following:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\ebmoka.dll

Reboot back into normal mode, rescan with HJT and post a new log here for a final check over.

i also dont have this program "Cosmi Popup Blocker" is ther a way to reomoe that? I also stoped using mcafee. i also have no idea what this is "O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SPYKILLER] C:\Program Files\Anonymizer\sk\SpyWareKiller.exe /BOOT" Thanks in advance Alice
Looks like you got rid of it. You said you removed McAfee, do you have any AntiVirus program now? If not grab a free copy of AVG from here:

http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php

We can tidy up those items you identified, with only HJT running, have it fix:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SPYKILLER] C:\Program Files\Anonymizer\sk\SpyWareKiller.exe /BOOT
O9 - Extra button: Cosmi Popup Blocker (HKLM)

Reboot when done.

Hi alice,

Well, Daemon has helped you, I see- he's one of our best. ;) PLEASE take his advice, and download and install that AVG virus protection for the interim, even if you are going to but McAfee. It's free, and you are really exposed without some program to keep the nasties at bay. There is also Zone Alarm, a good FREE firewall. Being without at least antiVirus and Firewall protection is like driving at night through a BAD part of town with your windows open. :o

Here's some good information for you: http://forums.net-integration.net/index.php?showtopic=3051. It's a good introduction to basic Internet security needs.

Good luck.
it was working but it has reset agian. now going to about blank and loading Search for… website. took a new log. but how do thes things get on here in the first place?

anyways thanks in advance agian. and i do apreceat all the help i am geting here. i just get totaly lost

Alice
