Backup your Registry…
- Press "CTRL - ALT - DEL" keys all at the same time to start "Task Manager"
- In the Task Manager window click on "File", then from the drop-down menu select "New Task (Run…)"
- In the "Create New Task" window enter\type "regedit" (without quotes)
- Once Regedit opens click on the FILE menu and select Export
- Save the file as backup. Save the file somewhere you will remember and not delete.
IMPORTANT: make sure to set the export range to ALL

Put it in its own folder. You may want to keep this program. It is an excellent free, registry editor.

Copy and paste the follow text into the address bar, then hit 'Go':
winik


Right click on it, and select delete.
If you get a confirmation question, respond OK then

Repeat for every entry of winik

close out the program.


If it won't let you delete a entry, then:
Right click registry entry and select Permissions. Check box to ALLOW Everyone to entry.
Then you can delete the entry.

when i put winik in the address bar and press go- it does nothing…? what am i doing wrong??

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

I suggest you do this:

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [YQVJSo1x] C:\PROGRA~1\wpurwwvo\eAwCHgxM.exe

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Delete this Folder
C:\PROGRAM Files\wpurwwvo <–Folder


Empty Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.

ran hijack this ( during running- mcafee popped up staying there was a virus ( winik.sys) fixed the file you said to… when i tried to delete the C:\PROGRAM Files\wpurwwvo alert said cant deletd snml.exe ( access denied- in use or write protected) what should i do?? thanks

Backup your Registry…
- Press "CTRL - ALT - DEL" keys all at the same time to start "Task Manager"
- In the Task Manager window click on "File", then from the drop-down menu select "New Task (Run…)"
- In the "Create New Task" window enter\type "regedit" (without quotes)
- Once Regedit opens click on the FILE menu and select Export
- Save the file as backup. Save the file somewhere you will remember and not delete.
IMPORTANT: make sure to set the export range to ALL



click Start>Run and type regedit tap enter key.


Regedit will open. Make sure My Computer is highlighted. At the top of the window click edit> Find> then copy and paste the following into the window.

winik.sys

Then click find now.
When you find the entry right click on it and select delete, answer ok at the prompt.
Next, press "F3" to continue searching, if another instance is found, repeat the above steps, until you see the "completed searching" message.

took FOREVER TO reboot…. mcafee still says the trojan is there— same location…. i want to throw my computer out the window.
