Hello, My Virus program has identified 2 problems that it can't fix. How do I get rid of them? They are: Found virus In File: C:\System Volume Information\_restoreC2A5F0BF-E327-4030-8A42-825B454C2818\RP132\A0223105.exe Name: WORM_SDBOT.CJK Requested action: Remove virus. Results: Failed. Removal attempt failed. File still infected. See recommendation below. Found virus In File: C:\WINXP\system32\msconfig32.exe Name: WORM_SDBOT.BUY Requested action: Remove virus. Results: Failed. Hey Micha, If only we had. But I have another problem right now. I can' t run HijackThis. I've installed V-Comm System Suite. Enabled the firewall. Have done several virus scans and used the fix registry program. When I tried to access Hijackthis earlier, I got a message that told me I didn't have access to the program. This At first I couldn't delete the exe file either. I tried using SystemSuite to uninstall but got a runtime error for C+ Today I tried again and was able to delee all the stuff in the hijackthis folder including the program. I then downloaded a new version of HiJackThis. When I click on this new ziip file, it opens a window showing an icon for HijackThis.exe.. When I click on the icon , the hourglass shows up for a while but Hijact never starts. Any ideas on how to get Hijack working again?
OK that worked. I dd a hijack log and a start-up log.

System suite's virus program is actually TrendMicro. They have a solution on their website but I couldn't follow it because they keep sending you off to other routines and warnings. They said something about needing to turn off system restore as well as a bunch of other things.

Somethng there is that reinstalls this force of evil even after you delete it. Even the virus checker said it deleted it at one point.

Here are the logs:

Download Killbox from here:

Killbox.zip

Unzip it, but don't run it yet.

We need to disable your Microsoft AntiSpyware Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.
  • Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
  • Click on Options, Settings.
  • In the left pane, click on Real-time Protection.
  • Under Startup Options uncheck Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
  • Under Real-time spyware threat protection uncheck Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
  • After you uncheck these, click on the Save button and close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
  • Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.
After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Compaq32 Service Drivers] msconfig32.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Compaq32 Service Drivers] msconfig32.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Compaq32 Service Drivers] msconfig32.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\RunServices: [Compaq32 Service Drivers] msconfig32.exe

Then click "Fix checked" & close Hijack This!

Now, run Killbox.

In Killbox select "Delete on Reboot".

Paste the next line into the "Full Path of File to Delete" text box.

c:\winxp\system32\msconfig32.exe

Click the red dot with the white X in it, in the upper right of Killbox, then click "Yes", and "Yes" again.

When the machine reboots, do this:

Run Hijack This!

Click the "Open the Misc Tools section" button.

Click the "Open process manager" button.

Check the "Show DLLs" box (upper right).

Click on each item in the upper window, then look in the lower window.

Check to see which processes are using these DLL's:

C:\WINXP\System32\efccd.dll
C:\WINXP\SYSTEM32\fccbx.dll

Post back letting me know all processes using those DLL's.

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe

http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop.

l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing .

This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, Notepad will open with a log.

Copy/paste the contents of that log into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!
hey micah, did the hijack to delete the 04 stuff did the the killbox for the dll's I got only one entry that used them: c:\winxp\system32\winlogon.exe downloaded L2mfix and extracted the files and double clicked l2mfix.bat and waited and waited but never got a log in notepad. I gave it 10 or 15 minutes. I closed it and tried again. All that happened after I typed in the 1 is a little red bar kept flashing after the 1 indicating that you could type another character. What should I do? Tim
Micah, I downloaded a new l2mfix this morning and ran it but still no results. I even ran it right after boot up to make sure nothing else, that I did anyway, interfered with it. Tim

All that happened after I typed in the 1 is a little red bar kept flashing after the 1 indicating that you could type another character.

You need to hit after typing 1
:)
Duh! Now I remember doing that back in the old days. Tell the truth, after reading all the warnings I was too scared to try anything other than what I was told to do. Oh well. A new roadblock. When I try to boot up in safe mode, I don't get the desktop. I have only a black screen with "safe mode" in each corner and the OS info at the top. Some additional info. My computer has two operating systems, I think. In any case you come to a screen that asks you to choose Windows 1 or Windows 2. Windows 2 is the default. It doesn't matter whether I press F8 before I reach this screen or after. Before it worked when I preseed F8 after I reached this screen. Once I press F8 a string of info comes on a black screen. Then it loads windows and takes me to a screen where I choose between the administrator and Tim as the user. I always use Tim but I tried both ways and got the same result. Next a Warning Box pops up telling me how dangerous Safemode is and givies me a choice to continue or… Before it would always wait until I made a selection. Now it disappears real quick so sometimes I miss this click. The same thing happens either way, and that is… The black safemode screen is drawn and sometimes, just for an instant the desktop and task bar loads. If you blink, however, you might miss this event. Then the computer just sits there doing nothing and so do I since there seems to be no comunication between us, no way to give the computer commands. After a long wait I shut it down and try again I tried going on the net in regular mode. and see if something would get resolved. When going this route, I get 2 dialog boxes each saying the same thing: A webpage I requested couldn't be found…Check the address…Try again later or click connect. I siad no to connecting 3 or 4 times, then I connected, I did go on the net. I still didn't get the desktop and task bar. So, here I am stuck. Any suggestions?
After booting in "safe mode", push these three keys at the same time:

The task manager appears on the screen.

Click on the Applications tab, then click New task.

Then click on Browse.

"Browse" your system to the KillVundo.bat file in the VundoFix folder, then click OK.
