Click here to download Ewido security suite - it is a trial version of the program.
  • Install Ewido security suite
  • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
  • Launch Ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
  • The program will now go to the main screen
You will need to update Ewido to the latest definition files.
  • On the left hand side of the main screen click update
  • Then click on Start Update
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update Ewido.

After the definitions have been updated, close Ewido.

Do NOT run a scan yet.

Reboot in "safe" mode.

Now, run Ewido, then:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin (do not open any folder's or open the windows control panel while the scan is in progress).
  • While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK
  • When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report.txt file to your desktop.
Now close Ewido security suite.

Now run the CleanUp program:

Running CleanUp
  • Start CleanUp by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
  • When CleanUp starts go to the Options button (right side of CleanUp screen)
  • Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
  • Now place a checkmark next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
  • Delete Cookies
This is optional, if you leave the box checked it will remove all of your cookies, at this point removing cookies is a good idea
  • Empty Recycle Bins
  • Delete Prefetch files
  • Cleanup! All Users
[*]Click OK

[*]Then click on the CleanUp button. This will take a short while, let it do its thing.

[*]When asked to reboot system select No

[*]Close CleanUp

Copy the file names in the quote box below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing C (hold the key down, then press C):

C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\LAN\LOCAL SETTINGS\Temp\sysofni.dat
C:\WINDOWS\java\infosys.exe
c:\windows\system32\host.exe
c:\windows\system32\bkinst.exe

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

O2 - BHO: CATLEvents Object - {BB54DE33-E539-4749-BFAC-CC49617E8F2A} - C:\DOCUME~1\LAN\LOCALS~1\Temp\sysofni.dat

O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [*infosys] C:\WINDOWS\java\infosys.exe rerun

O20 - Winlogon Notify: infosys - C:\DOCUME~1\LAN\LOCALS~1\Temp\sysofni.dat

Then click "Fix checked".

Close Hijack This!

Now, run Killbox.

In Killbox select "Delete on Reboot".

Click File (in the upper left of Killbox), and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

Click the red dot with the white X in it, in the upper right of Killbox, then click "Yes", and "Yes" again.

After the reboot, "copy/paste" a new Hijack This! log file, and the report.txt file from the Ewido scan, into this thread. :)

I remember when this wasn't so hard to remove…..

Please go here:

Silent Runners.org

Download/run the silentrunners.vbs script.

When you run it, click "Yes" to the "Skip supplementary searches".

It will take a few minutes to run.

When it fininshes, it will tell you what text file it put the results in (it will be in the same folder the VBS file was downloaded into).

Open it up with Notepad, and paste it into your next post, please.
:)

Click on Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services,
and start the "Windows Management Instrumentation" service.

I suppose those were the 2 steps….

Did you reboot afterwards?

Can you log into an account with "administrator privileges" and run the script?

I've done more research on this, and the only thing I can see we are doing different is using "Cleanup" instead of removing files manually.

I added the part about using "Cleanup" because I thought it would be easier for you.

Maybe it's not "cleaning up" as much as it should.

So, let's try this once without "Cleanup".

Here is a link to a "solved" hijack with the same infection:

ATLEvents

Copy the file names in the quote box below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing C (hold the key down, then press C):

C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\LAN\LOCAL SETTINGS\Temp\sysofni.dat
C:\WINDOWS\java\infosys.exe
C:\Windows\System32\hostx.exe

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

O2 - BHO: CATLEvents Object - {BB54DE33-E539-4749-BFAC-CC49617E8F2A} - C:\DOCUME~1\LAN\LOCALS~1\Temp\sysofni.dat

O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [*infosys] C:\WINDOWS\java\infosys.exe rerun

O20 - Winlogon Notify: infosys - C:\DOCUME~1\LAN\LOCALS~1\Temp\sysofni.dat

Then click "Fix checked".

Close Hijack This!

Now, run Killbox.

In Killbox select "Delete on Reboot".

Click File (in the upper left of Killbox), and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

Click the red dot with the white X in it, in the upper right of Killbox, then click "Yes", and "Yes" again.

When the machine reboots, reboot in "safe" mode.

Delete all files in this folder:

c:\documents and settings\lan\local settings\temp <– this folder

Don't delete the folder just ALL the files inside it.

Some malware files may be "hidden".
Be sure to show hidden files when looking for these file(s) and/or folder(s).

Reboot in normal mode and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread. :)

Somehow, I don't think you're getting all the files deleted. If all the files are not deleted, the fix will not work.

Copy the text in the following quote box into Notepad:
