Symptoms and problems:

I was just surfing the net, when all of a sudden my desktop background was changed to an anti-spyware ad and my browser was directed to security2k.net.

New icons appeared on my desktop (online dating & PS Guard)

New sites were added to my favourites - online gambling, dating etc

My home webpage is now set to security2k.net and it can't be changed. The website appears with details of my country, IP address etc and a warning that my PC is infected with spyware.

PSGuard attempted to run scans of my PC

What you've already done to solve the problem:

I bought and installed McAfee Virus Scan Professional, updated, ran scans, found and cleared problems.

Downloaded and ran Ad-aware PE on the advice of Spyware Warrior.com
found & deleted problem files.

Downloaded and ran Hijack This!
