Since a couple of days are likely to pass before this item reaches the top of the queue, I'll post the HJT log when you've posted a reply that you can work on this. Regards, Doug
Download hijackthis to its own folder C:/HJT for example. Extrat the zip file to that folder. Then close all browseer windows, open hijackthis and click on scan. Once the scan has completed click on Save Log, this will produce a text file log. Highlight all of the information from in that text box then right click and copy. Come back to this post you made and click on "add reply" at the bottom right and a new window will open. Paste the hijackthis log into the new window hit add reply in that new window.

HJT download >>> http://www.softpedia.com/public/cat/10/17/10-17-69.shtml
Here is the log.

Please download, install, and update the free version of Ewido trojan scanner: >>>> http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
When you run ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
From the main ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
Exit Ewido. DO NOT scan yet.
Download CCleaner and install, but do not run it yet.

2. Please download this revised installer for the Nailfix utility.
DO NOT run it yet.
Alternate download links here:
http://www.spywareedge.net/nf/nailfix.exe
http://www.spywareaid.com/index.php?file=s…22&softtype;=exe

3. Reboot to Safe Mode
How to start the computer in Safe mode
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen…src=sec_doc_nam

4. Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on nailfix.exe. Click "Next" in the setup, then make sure "Run Nailfix" is checked and click "Finish". Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly — this is normal.

5. Next, run Ewido again.
Click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on Complete System Scan. This scan can take quite a while to run.
If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. We have been finding some cases of false positives with the new version of Ewido, so we need to step through the fixes one-by-one. If Ewido finds something that you KNOW is legitimate (for example, parts of AVG Antivirus, pcAnywhere and the game "Risk" have been flagged), select "none" as the action. DO NOT check "Perform action with all infections". If you are unsure of an entry, select "none" for the time being. I'll see that in the log you will post later and let you know if ewido needs to be run again.
When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file. Make sure you know where to find this file again.
Then run HijackThis, click Scan, and place a checkmark by the following item (if found):

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

O2 - BHO: Band Class - {00F1D395-4744-40f0-A611-980F61AE2C59} - C:\WINDOWS\dsr.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [tianxs] C:\WINDOWS\System32\cveentd.exe r
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Dinst] C:\WINDOWS\dinst.exe

O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked Note that the 04 entry may have changed names if you have rebooted since posting the log; look for an entry with a similar format, that will always in in a single letter r.

Locate and delete the following File in BOLD:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\cveentd.exe

6. Now, run CCleaner.
Uncheck "Cookies" under "Internet Explorer".
If running Firefox: click on the "Applications" tab and uncheck "Cookies" under "Firefox".
Click on Run Cleaner in the lower right-hand corner. This can take quite a while to run.
Finally, restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.
I followed the steps as requested. I did not find the file c:\windows\system32\cveentd.exe. However, I did find the file c:\windows\prefetch\cveentd-3946668.pf which I deleted. As requested, the ewido and HJT logs follow.

Is that log from regular or safe mode?

You had a few more bad things in your log so lets run the tools to be sure.

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!
The ewido log was run in safe mode, and the hjt log was from normal mode. Following is the log from l2mfix. Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!
Here are the logs from l2mfix and hjt as requested.

Things seem to be running well. I'm not getting popups, and I can run IE again (for awhile, IE would start and then shut down). My only question from the last HJT log is about the O23 item: O23 - Service: Command Service (cmdService) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\T3duZXIA\command.exe I don't seem to see any negative effects, but the randomness of the letters seems strange. Thanks, Doug
Start > Run In the box, type in services.msc then hit (or click OK) In the Name column, look for Command Service it. In the dialogue box that pops up, check in the "Path to executable" box, it will say: C:\WINDOWS\T3duZXIA\command.exe (That's how to tell you have the right one) Now, click Stop to stop that rogue process. In the Startup type box, change it to Disabled, then click Apply then OK.
Thanks for all the help. Everything seems to be running fine, so I think we can consider this closed. I've posted a recent HJT log.

Regards,
Doug
