The computer has been running slower and slower. I know there is a problem, but have no idea how! This is a recent HJT log after a reboot. Thanks

Thanks. I have been working with another site, but we have had nothing but problems. Am trying one last effort and if we get no where…I will post a new log. :)

Hi! I think I have finally made some progress. I ran McAfee Virus and Spyware scan. found and removed a ton of bad things. Ran Ccleaner, Cleanup and Regseeker. Rebooted the computer and things seem better. I doubt if I am completely out of the woods, but we will see…After I rebooted I ran HJT. The results are posted below. Thanks! :)

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

Thanks for your help. Computer seems like a much happier place! Not happy about losing weatherbug…are you 100% sure he had to go? :( I read it was safe to use! I miss it already…

I just suggested you remove WeatherBug It's your PC. Depends on the version.

Kodak updater… Look here:
click Start> Run> type in Msconfig tap enter key.
look in the Startup.

After you uncheck it, you'll be using Selective startup.
When you see the box popup that tells you that, just put a Check in the Box to not show that when you startup.


Other then that:

Log looks good :D :thumbup: How is it running any issues?

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Click Start> My Computer, select the Tools menu and then Folder Options, after the new window appears select the View tab…]
This time select the: Restore Defaults
Select: Apply, and click OK




If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Followed all of the posted instructions. Computer seems much better. I honestly do not know what happened. I faithfully ran IM secure pro and zone alarm free version firewall. Had AVG and updated always. Have Spywareblaster, Lavasoft, Ccleaner and Spybot and I USE them. All of a sudden one thing appeared and then another. I kept getting knocked offline. It was a real mess. Popups everywhere. I have removed AVG free version and ZoneAlarm Free. Kept my spycheck programs and will get the others you recommended. I had a great offer for the Pro full McAfee Security suite thru Comcast with firewall and virus scanner. I loaded them and they found Reg/seeker Trojan this afternoon and removed it. Things started improving after that. I was able to get some of the malware off with the McAfee spycheck. Hopefully everything is returned to normal. Thanks a ton! :wavey:

Told you I had to remain cautiously optimistic…I had a trial version of SpywareDr. and I ran it this morning…just to be sure. It found Block-Checker. Now what!? :rant2: Thanks!
