This is the log:
Click here to download Spybot Search & Destroy v1.4 - install, update, scan and fix all RED items it finds. Reboot when done.

Click here to download Ad-Aware SE and install. Before scanning click on "check for updates now" to make sure you have the latest reference file.
  • Click "Start"
  • Select "Perform Full System scan"
  • Click "Next" to start the scan.
When the scan is finished, the screen will tell you if anything has been found.
  • Click "Next". The bad files will be listed.
  • Right click the pane and click "Select all objects" - this will put a check mark in the box at the side.
  • Click "Next" again
  • Click "OK" at the prompt "# objects will be removed. Continue?".
Reboot when done.

Click here to download Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta, check for updates and run it. Reboot when done.

You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
  • On the left hand side of the main screen click update
  • Then click on Start Update
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed. If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido. Once the updates are installed, reboot into Safe Mode by tapping F8 after the BIOS has loaded, then:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin (do not open any folders or open the windows control panel while the scan is in progress).
  • While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK
  • When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop.
Now close ewido security suite.

Reboot into Normal Mode when done, rescan with HJT and post a new log here together with the ewido report you saved. Please don't reboot/switch off from now on unless instructed otherwise.
Hi Daemon. Thanks for prompt response, Spent most of the day trying to run the MS antispyware. It just would freeze saying: Virtual Memory Low.

Select the process and click Process > Suspend.

Then in HijackThis click Config > Misc Tools > Delete a file on reboot…
In the explorer Window select c:\windows\system32\nhqwip.exe
When prompted if you want to reboot click YES

Leave Process Explorer running with the process suspended through the reboot.

Have it reboot into Safe Mode by tapping F8 after the BIOS has loaded. Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on nailfix.exe. Click "Next" in the setup, then make sure "Run Nailfix" is checked and click "Finish". Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly — this is normal.

Open HijackThis, scan and when complete, remove the following entries by checking the box to the left and clicking 'fixed checked':

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
O2 - BHO: Band Class - {00F1D395-4744-40f0-A611-980F61AE2C59} - C:\WINDOWS\dsr.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QBRSR] C:\WINDOWS\QuickBrowser.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Dinst] C:\WINDOWS\dinst.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [mbfkru] c:\windows\system32\nhqwip.exe r
O23 - Service: Workstation Service Library (Microsoft Locator Service) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\wkssvc.exe (file missing)
O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - c:\windows\SvcProc.exe

Reboot again when done, rescan with HJT and post a new log here.
Hi Daemon. I think we got it. I followed your instructions and the only differences were:

- couldn't find 023 - Service: System Startup………..C:\windows\SvcProc.exe

- I also had HJT fix two more objects:
. 023 = Service: AOL IM unknown owner c:\windows\rofl.exe
and . 023 - Service: Workstation Service Library c:\windows\wkssvc.exe
(for this I also ran killbox.exe)

- after reboot I had HJT fix 02 - BHO ……………….. c:\windows\dsr.dll again as it had reappeared.

It now looks as if it is all gone.
THANKS!!!!!!! :wavey: :wavey:

Exit HijackThis when done. Reboot, rescan with HijackThis and post a new log here.
Keeps coming back!!! I fixed it twice with HJT but keeps coming.

One other thing: I have a couple of very suspicious files sitting on the C: drive They are: C:\inf.exe C:\info.exe C:\js.exe C:\win.exe C:\windows.exe Question is: can I delete them? Thanks Edh
Well done - I was going to tell you to do that next.

The suspect files:
  • Please go to Jotti's malware scan
  • Copy and paste the following file path into the "File to upload & scan" box on the top of the page:
    • filenames in your list one by one
  • Click on the submit button
Let me know what is found - delete any that come back as malware.
Hi Daemon. What a great website - jotti.org! All five files were infected with Adware.WildMedia application AND Trojan.Spy.WWWBar-1 (FYI: The virus were detected by clamAV and NOD32, the others found nothing) I deleted all the files and cleaned the recycle bin. Are we clean? Can I reset the sytem restore point? Thanks again. Edh
Here it is! But 023 rofl is there. Maybe it doesn't matter.

Thanks a lot!

I don't know what that service is - it you want to get rid of it do this. Open HijackThis, click Config > Misc Tools > Delete an NT Service Tab. In the dialogue box that opens enter AOL Instant Messenger in the slot and click OK.

Reboot and post a new log when done.
Thanks again Daemon. I found another way to get rid of rofl.exe

I went to run>services.msc then AOL Instant Messenger, double click, in the dialog box under Path to executionable box it said c:\windows\rofl.exe and I changed the startup type box to disabled.

And now its gone from HJT.

Thanks for all your help
