Hi,

Few days ago, my notebook computer started to show advertising pop ups, some of them with sound. Appreciate your help to remove the invading programs.

I just scanned with Hijackthis v.199.1. Here is the log:

Welcome to the forum.

Download and unzip the KillBox to a folder - we'll use it later.

HowToShowHiddenFiles - <—enable this

Please look in your control panels add/remove programs and uninstall these if listed:
AutoUpdate
Aprps

Press Control-Alt-Del to enter the Task Manager.
Click on the Processes tab and end the following processes if listed:

AutoUpdate.exe
samtes40.exe
rwispl.exe
CxtPls.exe

Exit the Task Manager when finished

Close ALL programs down, leaving ONLY HijackThis running.
Place a check against the following items:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {016235BE-59D4-4CEB-ADD5-E2378282A1D9} - C:\Program Files\Aprps\cxtpls.dll

O16 - DPF: {42F2C9BA-614F-47C0-B3E3-ECFD34EED658} (Installer Class) - http://www.ysbweb.com/ist/softwares/v4.0/ysb_cracks.cab
O16 - DPF: {7C559105-9ECF-42B8-B3F7-832E75EDD959} (Installer Class) - http://www.xxxtoolbar.com/ist/softwares/v4…006_regular.cab

Click on Fix Checked and exit HijackThis.

Now open up the KillBox and copy and paste each one of these in and hit delete, if the file exists, it will appear in blue under the window, if not move on to the next file.

C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate\AutoUpdate.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\samtes40.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rwispl.exe
C:\Program Files\Aprps\CxtPls.exe
C:\Program Files\Aprps\cxtpls.dll

The KillBox creates a folder called "!submit" in C:\ , after you are done you can delete the folder.

Now delete these folders if found:

C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate
C:\Program Files\Aprps

Clean out temporary and TIF files. Go to Start > Run and type in the box: cleanmgr. Let it scan your system for files to remove. Make sure these 3 are checked and then press *ok* to remove:

Temporary Files
Temporary Internet Files
Recycle Bin

Reboot and post a fresh HijackThis log and we'll take another look. MrC

Don't open e-mail attachments without first scanning them with an up-to-date
anti virus program, even after doing that I would be very careful. Don't click on any executables in e-mails or any other links that you're not sure of.
Watch your surfing habits, don't click on or download anything you're not sure of. Don't install a program that hasn't been recommended by a reputable organization.

Good luck and thanks for using the forum - MrC
