Greetings and welcome to TomCoyote.org!

Please run Hijack This! once more, this time click on Open the Misc tools section

Slide the bar down, and "check" the box to the left of Calculate MD5 of files if possible

Now click Back, then Scan.

Look at one of these these entries:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [process listings] proclist.exe

To the right of it, it will now have two more fields.

One is filesize, the other will be MD5.

The filesize on that entry should be 14336

The MD5 should be 45675f03ef27b95774a7bf5f2f5bfca7

If either of those fileds are NOT as described, then the file is most likely malware and fails the test, unless you are 100% positive it does something "useful".

The "legitimate" proclist.exe performs this function:

ProcList is a program that can be used to query the process and DLL information on Windows NT and 2000 systems. The information given by this program can be used to determine which processes are using what DLL's

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [process listings] proclist.exe
(check only if failed the test above)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Anti-Virus Update Scheduler] C:\WINDOWS\system32\1.tmp

O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [process listings] proclist.exe
(check only if failed the test above)

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [process listings] proclist.exe
(check only if failed the test above)

O4 - HKCU\..\RunServices: [process listings] proclist.exe
(check only if failed the test above)

Then click "Fix checked".

Reboot in "safe" mode.

Find and delete:

c:\windows\system32\1.tmp <— file

c:\windows\system32\proclist.exe <— file
(delete only if failed the test above)

Some malware files may be "hidden".
Be sure to show hidden files when looking for these file(s) and/or folder(s).

Reboot in normal mode and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread. :)
sorry about the delay

Well… You'd be good to go If I hadn't missed something in your last post….

You have this trojan on your machine:

Troj/Bdoor-HU

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

O23 - Service: Mouse Hardware Sync (mousehs) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\System32\mousehs.exe

Then click "Fix checked" and close Hijack This!

Now, please go to:

Start –> Run

In the box type in services.msc then hit (or click OK)

In the Name column in the next screen look for:

Mouse Hardware Sync (mousehs)

it.

In the dialogue box that pops up, check in the Path to executable box.

It should say: C:\WINDOWS\System32\mousehs.exe

That's how to be sure you have the right one.

Now, click Stop to stop that rogue process.

In the Startup type box, change it to Disabled.

Click Apply then OK

Close the services.msc window.

Reboot in "safe" mode.

Delete all of these noted file(s) you can find:

c:\windows\system32\mousehs.exe <— file

Some malware files may be "hidden".
Be sure to show hidden files when looking for these file(s) and/or folder(s).

Reboot in normal mode and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread. :)

Now we need to fix a few values this trojan has changed in your registry.

Download and install Registrar Lite from here:

Registrar Lite

Now Run Registrar Lite.

Copy and paste the follow text into the address bar, then hit 'Go':

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Ole

In the right pane, on EnableDCOM

In the dialogue box that pops up, change the data in the Value box to Y, then click Apply then Ok.

Now, copy and paste the follow text into the address bar, then hit 'Go':

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa

In the right pane, on restrictanonymous

In the dialogue box that pops up, change the data in the Decimal box to 0 (That's the number ZERO, NOT the letter o), then click Apply then Ok.

Close Registrar Lite.

Would you shoot me if I told you I think I just found another bad thing in the log?

Please go to these web sites:

Kaspersky Online File Scanner

Jotti Online File Scanner

VirusTotal Online File Scanner

And submit this file:

C:\WINDOWS\wkssvc.exe

For a virus scan.

I believe it to be this trojan:

W32/Sdbot-ABE

Let me know what they say.

I'm sorry I missed this one. The last one I should have noticed because I have seen it a time or two.

This one is totally new to me (but that is no excuse).
anybody know of a tall building i can throw a dell off of?
popups won't allow use of online scan sites
virustotal showed results but 180 search prompt wouldn't allow copy/paste.
it did have "sdbot-abe" among others…
"The Hacker" ? give me an axe and five minutes alone with him/her, then you'll see a "hacker".

Dude… Never, EVER, let a web site download to your PC unless you check it out first to dertermine if it's a legitamate download.

You just got a bunch of carp** installed on your machine (and another bad service… <_< )

Please download and run Spybot-Search&Destroy and Ad-Aware; they are the standard programs for finding and cleaning malware off your system. Here are links to both programs, and instructions for their use.

Get Spybot - Search & Destroy from Spybot Search and Destroy
(This is the NEW Version 1.4)
Get AdAware SE Personal from Lavasoft
(This is the NEW Build 1.6)

Download and install these programs if you don't already have them. If you do have them, make sure they are UPDATED AND CONFIGURED AS DESCRIBED here:

Configure Adaware

Configure Spybot

Reboot after running each program.

When finished, "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread. :)
What I can't figure out is how you got directed to that IP address in the first place??

That link works for me….

By the way, that IP address traces to here:

Search results for: [removed]

OrgName: RIPE Network Coordination Centre
OrgID: RIPE
Address: P.O. Box 10096
City: Amsterdam
StateProv:
PostalCode: 1001EB
Country: NL

If they downloaded to your machine without your consent, it is most likely from bad security settings in Internet Explorer ( go here to fix that: Qualsys.com ), or they got past your firewall (if you have one).

I apologize for not detecting the sarcasm in your post.

Another program I recommend installing is this one:

IE-Spyad

IE-Spyad puts over 4000 known malicious web sites into IE's "restricted zone" to help prevent you from getting infected.

It's not looking bad. We can take care of what you got infected with.
