Hi… uhm I actually am sure this will be very rude of me, but I honestly think that if I had the time and knowledge to be a well-respected member who can help at will, I would help myself. *looks at those lines and wonders….*

Yeh.. so I implore anyone to help me solve the mysterious case of why my pc after a duration of 15-20 suddenly gives a explorer.exe fatal error warning, closing all explorer windows and not enabling me to open task manager or start+w or anything else, this error has only one OK which after clicking a few similar windows *all explorer errors with only an OK*. I end up with a final winlogon.exe error, and yes that is WINLOGON not the virus. I have searched towards all the ends of the internet to no avail.

I hope my first hijackthis log would help you help me.

Greetings and welcome to TomCoyote.org!

I see three worms active on your machine:

O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Windows Sound Manager] SndMon32.exe

Is this worm (click to read a description)

O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Sygate Personal Firewall] Sygate.exe

Is this worm (click to read a description)

O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [McAfee Windows Protection] mcafee32.exe

Let's try some free online virus removal tools:

Trend-Micro Housecall

Panda Activescan

Etrust Security Advisor

Choose "fix" or "clean".

Let them remove any infections found. Reboot after each scan.

When finished, "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread. :)
Hey thanks… that sndmon32 I am pretty sure I searched about it a while ago and it resulted with something about it being crucial for my sound system. I guess not. Anyways thanks, I will try it out now on my other system. Nice of you to help me. I will try my best to be active here. ^__^ Thanks!
If you have doubts about a file, you may go to this link:

Kaspersky Online File Scanner

And submit any file for a virus scan.

Keep in mind that this scan is for files suspected of being a virus, trojan, or a worm.

It may give false result on "browser hijackers" (say they're "clean") because it is not intended for that purpose.

I will check your new log when you post it in here.
:)
Yeh… it seems sndmon32.exe really is something else, the sound in this system *infected one* works perfectly. I feel bad doubting you even a bit ^^. Hai here is the new scan *crosses fngers*

Ok… oh yeh about Kaspersky online scan, I have another website somewhere which used multiple av software to scan small files online… I will find it.
I detected no "doubt".

Nothing for you to feel bad about.

For now, just a couple of minor fixes. However, I am soliciting other opinions on a few of the entries I see that I have not seen before, and am unsure about.

I haven't ruined anyone's PC yet, and I'm not going to start now.

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…rch/search.html

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…//www.yahoo.com

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {ED103D9F-3070-4580-AB1E-E5C179C1AE41} - (no file)

Then click "Fix checked".

Reboot.

I will post again when I get more feedback on the "suspicious" items, and either have you "fix" them or post another log file at that time.

From your first post:

Yeh.. so I implore anyone to help me solve the mysterious case of why my pc after a duration of 15-20 suddenly gives a explorer.exe fatal error warning, closing all explorer windows and not enabling me to open task manager or start+w or anything else, this error has only one OK which after clicking a few similar windows *all explorer errors with only an OK*. I end up with a final winlogon.exe error, and yes that is WINLOGON not the virus. I have searched towards all the ends of the internet to no avail.

Is this problem any better at this point?
Actually… that problem can't be tested yet… until we first solve the so called suspicious files and then… wait for tomorrow while my torrents continue. I will now try checking those files.
I forgot one thing. I don't think I see any antivirus software active in your log. Am I missing something, or are you "living dangerously"?
I guess living dangerously. I will not say I am ignorant but this post of mine will surely contradict that. But I honestly find AV software… really not worthy… and I am not the type of person who formats every second of his life… heck I formatted only twice maybe… both for my pc assembly course when I was 11.

I rather enjoy actually tackling with the problem like now, but this is more easier and I guess in my own little brain, I might even call it cheatin'. Yeh yeh.. I know demented of me… and don't worry. It is not me being cheap ^__^.

Heres the new log:

Thanks btw for your support till now.
I've already gotten help on this matter from Alsocom ( :) )

This entry is bad:

O21 - SSODL: Web Event Logger - {79FEACFF-FFCE-815E-A900-316290B5B738} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\Bnmjcd32.dll

Read about it here:

Backdoor.Berbew.K

As for these entries:

O21 - SSODL: mtkle - {4CE5187E-1290-445F-3194-1FBC8E0FC25A} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\qvffdt32.dll

O21 - SSODL: mtklefap - {C44C1C37-A102-456D-60B6-24C6DA00A6FA} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\wdvolr32.dll

I'd like for you to do two things:

Go here:

Virus Scan at Jotti.org

And submit:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\qvffdt32.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\wdvolr32.dll

for a scan.

Let me know what it says.

And also make a copy of the following files:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\qvffdt32.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\wdvolr32.dll

Put them all in one folder, zip it, attach it to an email and send it here

Please also include this link to your topic in the email:

http://forums.tomcoyote.org/index.php?showtopic=42391

The experts will take a look at the files and let us know what to do.
:)
So for the O21 - SSODL: Web Event Logger - {79FEACFF-FFCE-815E-A900-316290B5B738} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\Bnmjcd32.dll Shall I check/fix it? Oh and thos two .dlls I have been eyeing them for a while…. but I did not google or anything.
Yes. Please do the whole routine (close all programs, check, fix, boot in safe mode, find and delete..) on this one entry/file ONLY:

O21 - SSODL: Web Event Logger - {79FEACFF-FFCE-815E-A900-316290B5B738} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\Bnmjcd32.dll

:)
Sorry for double posting… but the first dll qvffdt32.dll is… very bad news… qukart and berbew… And the second is… similar, both are infected… badly. Found the edit button… I guess I will attach the dlls here… they wont upload in my email client.. -__- Argh… I cannot attach? I will ave to try with another email account then. Nvm.. I cannot attach them anywhere cept on those temp file hosting websites since they are clearly infected. I am sure they are infected… shall I continue with also checking them?
That's good enough for me.

Alsocom had also advised that they were most likely malicious.

So, do the "whole routine" on these as well:

O21 - SSODL: mtkle - {4CE5187E-1290-445F-3194-1FBC8E0FC25A} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\qvffdt32.dll

O21 - SSODL: mtklefap - {C44C1C37-A102-456D-60B6-24C6DA00A6FA} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\wdvolr32.dll

And post another log.

:)
