Sorry, I'm used to an Invision board, but this one is formatted differently, so the only way I could respond is to quote you.

I hope that I don't have to spend so much time here that I have to learn how it works.

Thanks for your advice, but I already ran Ad-aware and Spybot, did a virus scan, and that's when I realised that my browser had been hijacked. I remember reading about "Hijack This", but never had to use it. This is the computer at work, mind you….

I have more sense than that when it's me at home.

This is the latest scan.

I read that you sometimes don't respond immediately, I'm not surprised seeing the volume of messages here, so I took matters in my own hands, brought a copy of the program home, and ran it on my old ME computer.

(Don't laugh, it's my back-up, my new one is awesome.)

I printed out the results of the scan, and I might be able to at least eliminate some of the worst apples of the bunch by doing that.

I noticed that you recommend a registry cleaner after you're done, is it OK with you if I use System Mechanic 4.0?

I have 5.0 on my new machine, but 4.0 should work, don't you think?

Go to add/remov eprograms and look for MyWay, MyBar, MySearch and remove if present.


Scan with hijackthis and put a check beside these lines and choose FIX

Seems to run OK, I do have some entries in my msconfig file that I'm wondering about. Other than that, I'd be relieved to find out that it's OK now, Thanks.

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. In my signature below is also a tutorial on how to harden IE, a good read and very helpful to stop these things in the future. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on.
