I have had repeated problems with malware such as ucmore toolbar, IExtention, Coolwebsearch, Lame remote, ghost keylogger, etc etc, and the latest thing that keeps coming back is Media pass. Also have done several on line scans and have been told that I have W32 Xabot Registry Worm, Any one that can help me decipher my logs will be much appreciated. Thanks Muleskinner543

That is not the correct log. Make sure that you are clicking on 'Do a system scan and save a log file'. I am not sure what log you are generating.
Well I am doing just like you say, I click on "do a system scan and save logfile" Then I am copying what is in the notepad and pasting it here, I will try once more,

I notice that you are using more than one antivirus program. This is very dangerous, as multiple AVs can interfere with one another and actually allow MORE viruses to get through. I strongly suggest you either (1) configure only one antivirus program to enable automatic realtime scanning, and leave the rest disabled most of the time, or (2) go to Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs and uninstall all but one antivirus program.

Before starting any cleaning steps, please disable the Microsoft Anti-Spyware real-time protection:
  • Right-click on the Microsoft Anti-Spyware tray icon by your clock (it's the one with the red and yellow bulls-eye).
  • Click on "Security Agents Status".
  • Click on "Disable real-time protection".
Next, open Microsoft Anti-Spyware.
  • Click on the Options menu, then Settings.
  • Select "Real Time Protection" from the left column.
  • Uncheck "Enable (MSAS) Security Agents" and "Enable real-time spyware threat protection".
  • Click the Save button.
Finally, Right-click on the MSAS tray icon, select "Shutdown Microsoft Antispyware", and click "Yes" in the dialog that comes up.

Please run HijackThis and click "Scan." Place checks next to the following entries:
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - ~CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file)

O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
If you haven't used Spybot S&D or another protection program to set these internet restrictions, or if your system administrator hasn't set these, check these entries too.

Close all browser and other windows except for HijackThis, and click "Fix Checked" to have HijackThis fix the entries you checked. Reboot your computer and post a new HJT log.
Ok Thanks, I did not know that Norton was still active, I uninstalled it, Here is my updated log

Ok, that log looks clean. I still see entries from Symantec/Norton, however. Did you uninstall all Symantec software or just the antivirus? How are things running? Is your browser still hijacked?
I just uninstalled the norton antivirus. The rest of norton is part of my system. Everything seems to be working smoothly now, I really appreciate your time and help, If I see anything else I will check back with you, Thanks again.
Glad to hear it. Below I have included a number of recommendations for how to protect your computer in order to prevent future malware infections. Please take these recommendations seriously; these few simple steps can stave off the vast majority of spyware problems. As happy as we are to help you, for your sake we would rather not have repeat customers. :P
  • On a regular basis, please navigate to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and download all the "critical updates" for Windows, including the latest version of Internet Explorer. This can patch many of the security holes through which attackers can gain access to your computer.
  • In order to protect yourself against spyware, you should consider installing and running the following free programs:
    • Ad-Aware SE. A tutorial on using Ad-Aware to remove spyware from your computer may be found here. You have this installed currently. Please keep it updated and run it on a regular basis.
    • Spybot-Search & Destroy. A tutorial on using Spybot to remove spyware from your computer may be found here. Please also remember to enable Spybot's "Immunize" and "TeaTimer" features. You have this installed currently. Please keep it updated and run it on a regular basis.
    • SpywareBlaster. A tutorial on using SpywareBlaster to prevent spyware from ever installing on your computer may be found here.
    • SpywareGuard. A tutorial on using SpywareGuard for realtime protection against spyware and hijackers may be found here.
Keeping these programs up-to-date and running them regularly can prevent a great deal of spyware hassle.
  • Please consider using an alternate browser. Mozilla's Firefox browser is fantastic; it is much more secure than Internet Explorer, immune to almost all known browser hijackers, and also has the best built-in popup blocker (as an added benefit!) that I have ever seen. If you are interested, Firefox may be downloaded from here.
  • Also make sure to run your antivirus software regularly, and to keep it up-to-date.
Please also read Tony Klein's excellent article: How I got Infected in the First Place

Hopefully this should take care of your problems! Good luck. :D
I have already done all the things you have suggested, except read the article. I know I like to download and check out new programs, and that is part of my problem, Not many things are free on the internet, except maybe malware, but I will keep everything updated and should be ok, It is all a learning experence which I find very interesting. Thanks again, and keep up the good work.
