Well get this, we're having a great 4th of july celebration at my house and all my familys over cousins and all and i'm off having a great time. My little 12 year cousin comes up to me and ask's if he can get on my computer. My systems nice and security savvy so I say yeah go ahead. What harm can he cause? Boy am I an idiot. Turns out him and a few others go ahead and download Limewire and are busy between getting files and burning CDs. About an hour after I give him the go ahead he comes up to me and says "um…. your computers acting funny". He goes on to tell me that some program popped up. It turns out the program was Avast (thank god I got it yesterday) and it says its detected Win32 trojan-gen {other}. My day is ruined. I put it in the Avast virus chest and did the following:
Scanned with Adaware: nothing
Scanned with Spybot S&D: nothing
Scanned with Avast: strangely nothing (does it bypass it when it's in the virus chest?)
With Avast I had on the deepest scanning level. All its resident scanners are on as are Spyware Guard and Spyware Blaster. I dont have Spybots tea timer on cause i've heard it doesnt work well with Spyware Guard and Spyware Blaster. I've got IE locked down (all disables and prompts) thanks to Mike Healan's article at spywareinfo on how to prevent a browser hijacking and all I use is firefox (except for windows update of course). I did the X-cleaner online scan at spywareinfo and as it seems it deleted the trojan. It was still in the Avast virus chest so I highlighted it and clicked delete. Limewire and everything is long gone by the way. I've attempted to delete the media files they downloaded and some of them wont go away. There's about a dozen of them. All my programs are up to date (I even got the beta detection rules for Spybot)and i'm using Avast 4.6. Here's my log:

Log looks good to me. Some people consider "Viewpoint Manager" as "spyware". It can be removed via "Add/Remove Programs" if you wish. Again, that's an "optional" item (your preference). M68 :)
Thanks but I still have a problem… I can't get rid of those files they downloaded. Any ideas?
They're all in C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music. Its 11 Different MP3's. They're all Hip Hop songs if it'll help.
Also when you right click them to highlight delete it doesnt say delete on them. They also say the files sizes are 0 KB.
Have you tried to boot in "safe" mode first, then delete them?

If they're just music files, they obviously can't be "system critical".

If the "safe mode" option doesn't work, please post the precise error message you get when trying to delete them, and also the "full path names" of the files. We have tool available that may help, but we need the "full path names" in order to use it.
I tried it in safe mode with no luck. When I go to delete them (like highlight the files and press delete) nothing happens. Here's the path names: C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\2pac Ft. 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks - Loyal To The Game C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\02-akon_ft._team_invasion - hood_rules_apply C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\06-jay-z-freestyle_(dissin_game)-drx C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\09-jim_jones-summer_in_miami-mob C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\11-camron_feat_TI_code_of_the_streets C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\Biggie Smalls - Candy Shop Remix C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\Diplomats - Purple City Bird Game C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\Mashonda - Back of Da Club C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\Prodigy, Jayo Felony, Kurupt And 40 Glocc - Riflemen C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\Rass_Kass - Caution C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\T I vs. Lil Flip - 11 -No Problem Freestyle Dissin TI Thanks again….
Download killbox from here

Killbox.zip

Then unzip it and run it.

Close all windows and programs.

Run Killbox and paste the next line into the "Full Path of File to Delete" text box.

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\2pac Ft. 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks - Loyal To The Game.mp3

Check the button to the left of "Delete on Reboot".

Click the red dot with the white X in it, in the upper right of Killbox, then click "Yes".

If that works, do the same thing for all of them using their individual file names.
Glad we could help. That measure was a little "extreme", but I've never heard of the "Delete" option not being avaialable in the menu. I pray the rest of your holiday will be better that the way it started. M68 :)
Well Micah, it seems god reveals himself in mysterious ways because Mr. Trojan is back! My computer is acting funny like for instance my browser will up and it wont be on the toolbar. When I minimize it, it just disappears. Plus i've noticed certain media files are being moved around to different folders. The avast pop up showed up again so I moved it to quarantine. I've scanned with Spybot and Adaware and found nothing. Also, I scanned with Avast again last night after I completed everything and it found nothing. Here's my log and once again thank you:

I've got an update: It seems in Avast's virus chest the trojan from yesterday is also there so now we have 2 trojans present. The one from yesterday I thought I deleted it but it's there again. This is just great :rant2:
