Hello hiflyer, Welcome to TomCoyote forum. Do you have an issue? Just what advice are you looking for? I do see this:
O3 - Toolbar: Proxy - {98A7C97A-4FFF-4f6e-A313-D21BC759DD99} - C:\WINDOWS\tproxy.dll
See this information >> http://castlecops.com/clsid-1938.html
You may be able to get rid of it by running up to date versions of Ad-aware and Spybot: http://tomcoyote.org/aawsb.php

If you want me to look further, please post a new HJT log and copy/paste (look what everyone else is doing) do not use code or quote. You are also spacing the log and I need to see it single spaced. Make sure you do not have Word Wrap activated on Notepad. Open a Notepad and and click on view at the top, if Word Wrap is check, uncheck it. Now Open HJT and choose "Do a system scan and save a logfile"…then wait until HJT produces that Notepad. Click on Edit then Select all. The contents will be highlited for you, simply copy and paste the complete contents to this same thread along with as much information as you can give about your problem.

Cheers…pskelley

Hi + thanx 4 the reply, Some of the problems I have been having are:- No program listings in the start menu (even after I start progs). Computer freezing frequently ending in explorer crashing. Files going missing (downloaded ones). Browser crashing frequently (Firefox v1.0.4). It just doesn't seem to run as well as it used to? It's been about 2 months since my last reformat and I am considering another soon. Also my other half (bless ) has become interested in the PC and she has a tendency to click anything ! I have warned her about "dodgy" stuff on some sites and she tells me she has listened…Then I find an "ads.server" cookie in the allowed cookies list for example and think (??? - hmmmm - A H H H ! ! ! ! !)…It's never her though it must be me! <>. I have done a run with Ad-aware and got rid of the 10 items it found and my start menu now has the programs listed as I use them ! I restarted and ran Spybot (no threats found but "Immunse" found a few extra additions which I removed also. I did a restart once again and here is the log I got from HJT below…(hope I did it right). OK, Thanks for the feedback and the new log, it is just perfect :) …Let me start you off with tutorials for Ad-aware and Spybot so you can get maximum

Your HJT log: Scan saved at 15:34:52, on 01/07/2005

I guess this item is safe: PeerGuardian2, this is what I get: http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navc…q=PeerGuardian2 Software to keep you safe during P2P filesharing? If there is such a thing!

This one: O23 - Service: Fiyncmpswxmq - VIA Technologies, Inc. - (no file) seems to a valid serice: http://www.via.com.tw/en/index.jsp but this name: Fiyncmpswxmq gets a "Your search - Fiyncmpswxmq - did not match any documents" If you have any doubts about this, you should remove it.

You may want to consider information about this item, seems it is legit but you may be paying a price for using it?

As I said, there is not a lot visible with HJT in this log, if you want to take a hard look, then run this program:
Ewido trojan scanner: http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Please download, install, update and scan your system with the free version of Ewido trojan scanner:
  1. When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
  2. When you run ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
  3. From the main ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
  4. After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful"), click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on the Start button. This scan can take quite a while to run, so time to go get a drink and a snack….
  5. If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. You can select "clean" and check the boxes "Perform action with all infections" and "Create encrypted backup" before clicking on OK.
  6. When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file. Please then paste the contents of the text file to this thread.

  7. Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

I suggest a cleaning of your Prefetch folder:
Locate C:\Windows\Prefetch folder and open it. Delete the contents of the folder (NOT THE FOLDER) if there are many choose Edit then Select all then Delete. You may not be able to remove them all, don't be concerned unless any have the name of the items we need to remove. Here is some information about the Prefetch for you:

Download and run CCleaner using the default settings: http://www.ccleaner.com/ then restart the computer and post a new HJT log (also the Ewido scan results if you ran it) in this same thread along with any feedback you have. Let us know how you are running.
