someone please give me sum advice. thanks!
Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Please download Nailfix from here:
http://www.noidea.us/easyfile/file.php?sho…050515010747824
Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

The above Registry file written by miekiemoes, Swandog and racooper was written specifically for this infection and is not to be used on any other infection as it could damage a person's PC

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly — this is normal.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the log from the scan to your Desktop. IMPORTANT! Lately more people choose “Ignore” during the scan, but you’ll have to click/choose “Clean” or “Quarantine”! Otherwise the whole fix will result in a failure.

Then please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check (if there):

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

Restart your computer in normal mode, make a new HijackThis log and post it here, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

heres the latest HJT scan. thanks so much for your help. everything seems normal, let me know if there is still something up. thanks!!
Hi bigchang21;

Close all browser windows and RUN HijackThis.
. Click the SCAN button to produce a log.
Place a check mark beside each one of the following entries:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {D80C4E21-C346-4E21-8E64-20746AA20AEB} - (no file)

The following are recommended fixes:
Unless you know and trust the two following 04 entries, they can be fixed with HJT.
If the following entry is to be fixed with HJT, it should also be Uninstalled/Removed in Add/Remove programs, in Control Panel.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PPhGgni] c:\documents and settings\wlemon\local settings\temp\PPhGgni.exe
O4 - Global Startup: aimerss.exe

Since this program seems to have been Uninstalled/Removed, this entry can be fixed with HJT.
O9 - Extra button: Real.com - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\Shdocvw.dll

Now with all the items selected, delete them by clicking the FIX checked button.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders shown DARK, and delete them (if they are present):

c:\documents and settings\wlemon Only if it has first ben Uninstalled/Removed in Add/Remove Programs and fixed with HJT.

If you were unable to find any of the files then please follow these additional instructions:

Download Pocket Killbox and unzip it; save it to your Desktop.

Run it, and click the radio button that says Delete a file on reboot. For each of the files you could not delete, paste them one at a time into the full path of file to delete box and click the red circle with a white cross in it.

The program will ask you if you want to reboot; say No each time until the last one has been pasted in whereupon you should answer Yes.

Let the system reboot.

Reboot , enable hidden files and post a fresh Hijack This log in this thread, Using the Post Reply: feature, so I will be notified.

Note: Do not attempt to "Fix" anything in the new log, as we need to see the entire log.

I didnt really understand the last part of your post. I deleted the entries without any problems.
Hi bigchang21

The Killbox is a tool that can be used to delete files that prove to be difficult to remove by other means. In this case you did manage to delete the files, so Killbox was not necessary.

The following are recommended fixes:

Close all browser windows and RUN HijackThis.
Click the SCAN button to produce a log.
Place a check mark beside each one of the following entries:

You have RealPlayer running at Startup and this is not necessary. You can fix this with HJT, but you will also need to set it not to load in RealPlayer itself to keep it from resetting itself.

Ares is "a Windows program that enables peer-to-peer file-sharing on the Ares P2P network. As a member of the P2P community you can search and download any file shared by other users". This brings with it all the dangers of any other file sharing. There is always the possiblity of downloading Viruses, Trojan Horses, Keyloggers and all manner of parasites.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ares] "C:\Program Files\Ares\Ares.exe" -h

Now with all the items selected, delete them by clicking the FIX checked button.

With that done, your Hijack This log seems to be clean.

Protection Recommendations:

If you dont have these three FREE programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening.

One of the best features of Windows XP is the System Restore option, however if a virus infects a computer with this operating system the virus can be backed up in the System Restore folder. Therefore, clearing the restore points is necessary after a virus removal.

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

(winXP)

1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Safe surfing. :D
