Hello mozo11,

Welcome to Tom Coyote. I can't apologize enough for the delay. If you haven't resolved your issue and still need my assistance, please update Hijackthis to the current version and post a new log. Hijackthis also needs to reside in its own folder for backup purposes, we don't want to lose any backups when we make changes to your system.

This will install the current version of Hijackthis 1.99.1 in the proper folder.

* It is extremly important that HIJACKTHIS resides in its own folder, we will use it to make changes
to your system, HIJACKTHIS will make backups of those changes. If HIJACKTHIS is not in its own folder,
those backups could be lost.

* Go to MY COMPUTER
* Your C: Drive
* In the column on the left, click on MAKE NEW FOLDER
* Name the folder HIJACKTHIS.
* Follow the link at the bottom of my post to download the current version.
* Download it to a folder that you can find.
* The file will be a zipped File , you will need an Unzipping utility to open it.
* you can download and install the evaluation version of WINZIP here… http://www.winzip.com/
* Use the BROWSE FUNCTION and unzip this file to your new Hijackthis folder on your C: Drive.
* So… it should reside in C:\ HIJACKTHIS\HIJACKTHIS.EXE

Ken :D
Hello Ken545, I did all of the processes you mentioned. The new version of HIJACKTHIS is in it's own folder on my C drive. What's the next step?
Hello mozo11,

Its been awhile since you posted your log, things may have changed on your system, go ahead and run HJT and post a new log. Make sure when you run HJT , have it SCAN AND SAVE A LOG FILE then when the file opens in NotePad, go to EDIT>SELECT ALL - EDIT> COPY and then PASTE the new log in this thread.

Ken
Ken545,
Here's the new log:

mozo11,

Do you use a program called StillImage???

These 2 sites are in your trusted zone in IE, do you use them, if not we can take them out by Opening IE and go to Tools> internet options> Security> Trusted Sites> Sites and take them out if you wish,

O15 - Trusted Zone: http://music.yahoo.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: http://radio.music.yahoo.com

Now run HJT Scan Only and put a checkmark in the following entries, close all open windows and browsers and click on FIX CHECKED

* R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
* O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ttupt] E:\WINNT\ttupt.exe
* O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Jo4tRjjtS] msgmgvw.exe

Now enable windows to show all files and folders and reboot into Safemode.

SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS

* Click on MY COMPUTER
* Then on your C: Drive
* Then to TOOLS/ FOLDER OPTIONS/ VIEW
* Choose the radio button to SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS
* Take the checkmark out of HIDE EXTENSIONS FOR KNOWN FILE TYPES
* Then APPLY/ OK

* Don't forget to reverse this once your computer is clean

To Enter SAFEMODE

* Go to START/ SHUT OF YOUR COMPUTER/ RESTART
* As the computer starts to boot-up, Tap the F8 KEY somewhat rapidly, this will bring up a menu.
* Use the UP AND DOWN ARROW KEYS to scroll up to SAFEMODE
* Then press the ENTER KEY ON YOUR KEYBOARD

Scroll to E:\WINNT and remove this file ttupt.exe

Do a search START> SEARCH> ALL FILES AND FOLDERS and delete this one if it is present. msgmgvw.exe

Now while in Safemode, lets clean out all the temp files.

This process will clean out your TEMP FILES and your TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES. Please do both steps:

Step 1 - DELETE TEMP FILES

* This procedure should be run from SAFEMODE for better results.

* click on START/ RUN and type %temp% and press the ok button.

This should open up the temp directory that your machine uses. You should do this for each user on your system. Please delete all
files that are found there. If you get an error when deleting a file, skip that file and delete all the others.

* Do this same process for %windir%\temp.

NOW RE-BOOT NORMALLY

Step 2 - DELETE TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES

* Now I want you to open up INTERNET EXPLORER
* Click on the TOOLS MENU
* Then INTERNET OPTIONS
* At the GENERAL TAB, (which should be the first tab you are currently on),
* click on the DELETE FILES BUTTON and put a checkmark in DELETE ALL OFFLINE CONTENT.
* Then press the OK BUTTON . This may take quite a while, so do not be alarmed with how long it takes.
When it is done, your Temporary Internet Files will now be deleted.

Now download and run CCLEANER This will clean all the crappola out of your system. I have to warn you that it will also delete all your cookies, so when you start the program, go to options>cookies and all your cookies will load in the left window, just move the ones you want to keep to the right window.
http://www.ccleaner.com/

Empty your recycle bin

Now run HJT and post a new log please.
Ken545, A couple of items: When I got to the point of re-booting in Safemode and going to E:WINNT, I could not locate the file ttupt.exe. I did a search for it but nothing came up. Also, when I do the %temp%, and that directory opens, do I delete everything in there, folders and files? It showed 2.4 Gb of items. Just thought I'd double check before taking that step. Thanks for your help so far. mozo11
Good Morning mozo11 :D

Don't worry about the file you couldn't find, it most likely went south with one of the scans.

As far as the temp files, yes you can delete everything in that folder, but not the temp folder itself, just whats inside it.

Since your temp folder is so large, lets run CCleaner first, it will get most of it, you can do this in normal windows, after CCleaner, then reoboot into Safemode and do the temp files thing to get rid of the rest of it, if any.

mozo11, Your log is looking much better. There is one line I am unsure of and am doing reseach on it and will be back to you this evening. How are the popups doing? Are they still a problem? Ken
mozo11

Did you or a system administrator set up this proxy?
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = \\10.0.0.101:8080

Run HJT Scan Only and remove this line, close all windows and browsers.
O20 - Winlogon Notify: URL - E:\WINNT\system32\jtlo0733e.dll

Then look for the file in E:\WINNT\system32\jtlo0733e.dll <–Delete this File.
If it is in there and you can't delete it , you will have to boot into Safemode to delete it.
Ken545, I'm pretty sure I didn't set up that proxy. I'm not sure what it is and what is involved in setting it up so if you can give me some more info about it, I can probably tell you more about it. In the meantime, I'll do the next set of procedures you listed. mozo11
