Johnnybabez :wavey:
Hi, I have Trojan-clicker.win32.agent.db on my system, F-Secure anti-virus security detects it and renames the file, but every time I start IE it keeps coming back. Can someone please help. (see my other post) Thankyou Johnnybabez Windows XP 2002 - service pack 1 with all updates
Hi, I know you are all very busy, but can someone please help. I have looked through the other posts and i have downloaded AdAware, Spybot, Trojanhunter and Ewido, i have updated them all and ran the programs but the trojan keeps coming back when I open IE, if you could please give me some advice Thankyou Johnnybabez :D
Hello Johnnybabez , Welcome to the forum.

Is your E: Drive a local drive? If it's a CD drive, please put HJT on the local C: drive.

This is what I suggest you do.

Download CWShredder from my signature below. Unzip it on the desktop.
Open CWShredder and with ALL other windows closed, click fix.

Go here and run at least one of the online scans, allow them to delete whatever they find:

TrendMicro HouseCall
eTrust AntiVirus Web Scanner
Panda ActiveScan
Note any thing that can't be fixed
Reboot when done.

Next:

Even if you've already run these, make SURE they're up-to-date and run per instructions.

Make sure you have the up-to-date versions of Spybot V 1.4 and Ad-aware SE Build 1.06 . All are free and available below.

Download Spybot, install and update. Then download Ad-aware, install, and update.

Spybot:

Install the program and launch it.

Go to Start > Programs >Spybot > Search & Destroy and choose Spybot S&D

Close ALL windows except Spybot S&D
Click the button to "Search for Updates" and download and install the Updates.
Next click the button "Check for Problems"
When Spybot is complete, it will be showing "RED" (RED) entries "BLACK" entries and "GREEN" (GREEN) entries in the window
Put a check mark beside the RED (RED) entries ONLY.
Choose "Fix Selected Problems" and allow Spybot to fix the RED (RED) entries.

Ad-Aware FULL SCAN:

Install the program and launch it.

First in the main window look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.

From main window :Click Start then under Select a scan Mode check Perform full system scan.
Next deselect Search for negligible risk entries.
Now to scan just click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it.(Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and click Next)

Empty Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Thank you LDTate for your responce, I am doing everything you requested, It might take a while as I am on a dail up connction. Bye for now John
Hello LDTate,

I have done everything you requested.

1. CWShredder did not find anything on my system (cool websearch was not found on this system).

2. I did a scan at E Trust antivirus web scanner - Nothing found, but as the antivirus was scanning my own antivirus program (f-Secure) found Trojan.PSW.win32agent.am which it renamed as it has done in the past, but it keeps coming back.

3. Ran and updated Spybot - Nothing found

4. Ran and updated AdAware - Nothing found

Every time I open IE the trojan keeps coming back, when connected to the net sometimes I get redirected to online poker sites and still i have the pop up
saying "Windows Security Center, Warning windows firewall detected suspicious network activity on your computer, malicious software codes try to steal your privacy information, such as credit card numbers electronic accounts financial data or passwords YES NO" if i click yes it takes me to this web site http://spybotandware.com/search.php?q=spyware%20detection

I also receive various porn sites in my favorites after F-Secure has detected the trojan

Thank you very much for your help

John

Do you still have Ewido Security Suite? If so, just run the update. No need to download again, but follow the instructions.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.
Hi LDTate,

P.S as I went to update the post to Tom Coyote forum i got redirected to http://onlinepokerroomweb.com/search.php?q=poker
I suggest you do this:

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Open Hoster.exe.

Then click on "Restore Original Hosts"

Close program when complete.

Lets try this cleaner.
To use it:
  • Download CCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/ and install.
  • Open CCleaner.
  • Place a check by everything in the Applications tab.
  • Place a check by Internet Explorer, Windows explorer, and System in the Windows tab.
  • Hit the button that says Run CCleaner
  • Reboot to remove index.dat files.

After reboot:
"copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Hi LDTate,
I downloaded CCleaner a few hours ago, i thought i might need it.

I have done everything you requested, rebooted the system and then opened IE and F-Secure said i have Trojan-PSW.win32agent.am it could not delete the file so it renamed it, It has been doing this for the past week. It still won`t go

thank you

John
