Howard? or is it misguidedrookie? Welcome to TomCoyote. First I wish to ask that you not make multiple posts. This adds to the confusion and can cause double work to be done and we sure have all the single work we need. If you ever wait long, you would post here:
http://forums.tomcoyote.org/index.php?showtopic=31622
I will combine the two threads and then I will tell you the only thing I see wrong in this log is the incorrect positioning of your HJT.exe. If you will follow the information in the links I will provide to properly place it and keep it updated it will be there and ready if you ever need it again. I run my log often watching for any malware that might try to get in. If you have questions, let me know and here are your links:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial94.html
Note: This video tutorial requires Macromedia Flash to play.
http://www.spywareaid.com/index.php?file=svideo&id=1

Now to this: C:\SYSTEM VOLUME
INFORMATION\_RESTORE{B37680B2-BAOA-4ESD-BF30-83E44C588624}\RP489\A0039255.EXE

At some point in the operation it appears this item: Trojan-Spy,Win32.Banker.so got onboard and your AV must have removed it, but not before it found it's way into the protected files that are your System Restore. The information in the following link will show you how to purge those files. Follow those directions and when you turn SR back on make sure a new restore point is set, and everything that was there is gone.

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen…src=sec_doc_nam

I would update and run a new scan to make sure that takes care of the problem. Here is also a good trojan scan if you want to run a double check, your call:

Let's check for trojans in case any are hiding, run this free online scan, scan the whole system. Let me know what it finds and the exact name and location of anything it locates but can't remove. You may be asked to install an ActiveX, please do so as this program is safe and it can not run without it.

Let me know how this works for you, safe surfing…Phil
Thanks…pskelley

:) pskelley,
First off, sorry about the multiple posts, I was frantic. I did what you said to do before I got your email. However, I was never able to delete or disinfect it with my AV. I saw it as a ' set to delete' item on my registry scan (Registry Mechanic). I did just that and everything "seems" to be alright (I.E. symptoms are gone). Is it possible that this thing mutated and changed its own name and location? When I scanned with AV, both mine, and the one you recommended, I watch to see which files are being scanned. I dont see any " SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION " files being scanned, as I have in scans conducted before the infection. What is your take on this?
Here is my most recent HJT log.
Thanx,
misguidedrookie
This time I will wait for a response.

Hello misguidedrookie.

First off, sorry about the multiple posts, I was frantic

That is no problem, I feel if I take the time to help you understand how best to use this resource, not only will it help you but others will read it looking through the posts and we have a win win situation :D

In considering your questions I will first say that you should check to make sure SR is on. My advice would be never to have it off except for a diagnostic reason. I did give you the Symantec link with instructions for turning it on and off (purging) and I would never leave it off unless you are instructed too for a valid reason by a service technician.

Click Start.
Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Uncheck the "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives" check box.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

I run McAfee and I always run a full scan, and I always see the SR files being scanned. Keep in mind that these files are super protected and as far as I know there is no other way to remove malware that has backed up in SR. I can say that the only way that malware could get out of SR and back into your other system files would be the SR process. Not being familiar with your AV I can't really say, you may have been running a less than complete scan? Look to see if you can choose a partial scan or certain drives, perhaps that is what happened? If I were you and I was going to take the time to scan my computer I would allow a full system scan. Might take a few minutes longer, but if you miss something and some of the malware now actually works to turn off parts of the AV and Firewall so it has access to ports that can bring additional malware onboard.

My suggestion then is to purge your SR files, then do a complete scan. You may wish to try another free online scan to help your av and here are two to choose from:

You already have the trojan Scanner. If you have any issues using the tools and need others, here are two free trial period downloads you could use.

Sounds like overkill to me, but if your AV scan says you are clean, and one other then save these links in case you ever need them.

Your HJT log is clean of any obvious malware. There are a few items that can be removed but they are basically clutter. Your HJT.exe still needs to be repositioned for safety before it is used.

Since you have no malware in the log, I am going to give you this information now, here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
